***~Javert's POV~***

I walked down the blood stained cobblestone street with bodies of the traitors all over. I looked at every face and didn't see Marie's anywhere. Maybe she'd come to her senses and left the foolish cause before the real fighting had begun but I knew in my heart that she hadn't. She was too foolish to know when to flee. As I looked around a movement in the Café's window caught my eye.

I looked up to see the leader's dead body hanging dead as it should but behind it, looking down at me, I spotted Marie. Her eyes were red and full of tears and I could see the bloodstains in her clothes that seemed to grow with every breath she took. I couldn't help but smile at the sight of my only child still alive but with my smile her face only grew darker.

She lifted her left hand and I could see a small band of metal on her fourth finger that was reflecting in the sun's rays. Without another moment to take in the scene I watched as she flung herself from the window. All I could do was watch in horror as she fell two stories onto the cobblestone street a few few from my feet. I rushed to her side and pulled her into my arms as her lifeless blue eyes stared up at me. My daughter was gone forever.

"I love you my child," I brushed back her short black hair as I looked down at her gunshot wound in her stomach. On her left ring finger I saw the blood stained ring along with a crumbled piece of paper caught in her fist. I gently undid her hand and took the paper to read it. It read:

'Please bury me next to my fiancé Marie.'

The words made me go cold as I looked up at the leader's limp body hanging from the window.

***Marie's POV***

When I opened my eyes again my pain was long gone and I realized that I was no longer at the fallen barricades and surrounded by the bodies of my fallen friends. My hands went to my torso to find that my bullet wounds were gone along with the men's clothes that I'd worn, in their place was a simple red dress. Red, Enjolras' favorite color.

"I was wondering how long you'd be my love," my head snapped up at the familiar voice an I found gentle blue eyes watching me. A warm smile on the familiar lips. "I was afraid that you would leave me."

"Never," I wrapped my arms around his neck and he held me close. I could feel his lips on my hair that was long again.

"Marie!" I looked over his shoulder to see my friends all standing behind him with smiles on their faces. All of their wounds were gone now too and their clothes were in their normal condition and blood free. I released Enjolras as Gavroche came running over and I held him tight in my arms.

"I thought you were gone forever," I whispered to my young friend as his death replayed in my mind.

"Never underestimate little people." He grinned as I stood back up only to have Ephonie's arms devour me.

"I'm so sorry Ep," I whispered into her hair. "I tried to save them for you."

"It's not your fault," she pulled back and looked at me. "It was Gavroche's time and Marius is still well and alive. The volunteer saved him. He's alive and will have a happy life with that girl. He'll carry on our stories."

"Where are we now?" I asked as Enjolras wrapped an arm around me, holding me close to his side.

"The land of equality." He kissed my forehead before leading us all into the bright light. For the first time in the past few days I truly felt happy and safe with all of those I loved.
