Time skip: evening of departure

---

I throw in my last suitcase, turning and smiling at Jackson. He gives me puppy eyes and a pout. " Moon, please don't leave me," he begs for the forty millionth time. I roll my eyes, smiling fondly at him. " Oh be quiet pabo. I'll be fine, and I'll call you every day I'm gone, and I'll be back before you know it," I promise. He still pouts.

" Aish~" I get on my tiptoe and kiss both his cheeks firmly. I settle back on my feet and smile at him. " I'll be back I promise. I love you puppy," I say, hugging him tightly. " Love you too Moon," he mumbles unhappily. I pull away and pout.

" You think I'm leaving without a kiss to my cheek?"

I hold a finger over my cheek that's turned to him, waiting. I hear him chuckle as he leans in, kissing my cheek. " Please come back safely," he says. I nod, hugging him again. I breath in his scent, before letting go of him and getting in my car.

I wave to him, before pulling off and driving away. I found a little town about four hour's drive away from here, and there's a deserted town the same distance and time span from that town. And of course I've gotta go, deserted and creepy is what I need.

I've done this before, so it's not like I don't know what I'm doing. I always call or Skype Jackson when I go in, just in case there's something or someone that I don't particularly want company from.

I turn my music up loud in the car, barrelling down the expressway.

Time skip (because I'm a lazy bitch:)))
---

When I arrive at the first small town, all is quiet. I pull up in front of a motel, walking inside as it's still open. A warm fireplace is on, making me frown a bit. It's still late summer, temperatures are lukewarm.

I walk up to the front desk, ringing the little authentic bell. The sound echos through the entire lobby, making me sigh.

Creepy.

I snap a couple pictures as I wait before I hear a door open, followed by grumbling. I watch as a man walks up to the counter, before looking at me. His entire attitude changes as he smiles at me. " Oh my, are you getting a room?" He asks joyfully. I nod my head, smiling.

" Yes please, I'd like to stay here for a week, is that possible?" I ask. He nods frantically. " Of course of course! I'll give you the finest room we have, we haven't had any business in so long!!" He exclaims. I smile at his excitement. " I understand, but I'm on a budget you see, I don't want to spend too much money-"

" Nonsense!! The finest room, for the lowest price," he bargains. I wait a moment, before looking into his eyes. They hold hope, happiness.

Who am I to take that away?

" I'll take it."

He leads me to to a beautiful room, pretty small, but it's still decent. I set down a couple of my bags, walking back to my car to get the rest. I finally collapse against the floral and faded comforter on the bed, sighing deeply.

I hold up my body on my elbow, grabbing my phone on the nightstand. I open Skype and call Jackson, waiting patiently for him to answer. " Moon?" " That's me," I chuckle. He sighs, smiling at me. " I miss you jagiya," he pouts. I hold a strand of hair out my face, smiling sadly.

" I miss you too Jackson, but I promise I'll be back home-" I hear something hit my window and pause. Jackson also heard it and stops talking, straining to hear what's going on. I carefully walk over to the window, pulling back the curtain to peer out.

Darkness is all I can see, the only streetlight quite far away, letting an eerie glow fill part of my window. My eyes widen as I see a human-shaped shadow lurking near my window. I open my mouth to yell at it, before a sudden thing in my face sends me on my ass, screaming.

Jackson yells my name from my laptop, and I struggle to catch my breath. The thumping continues, and I realize it's a bird.

A big black bird.

It seemingly runs into my window one more time before diving down. I hesitantly walk over to the window, looking out. No sign of the bird, or the mysterious shadow.

I slowly return to my laptop, smiling at Jackson's worried face. " What happened, are you okay?!" He exclaims. I calm him down, explaining everything that happened. He sighs deeply, clutching his chest. " JeSuS, I thought something happened to you," he says, smiling at me a bit. I smile back, sitting up. " You need to calm down, nothing is going to happen to me," I reassure, leaning closer to the screen. He does the same, pouting.

" You never know, but I hope nothing happens," he says. I shake my head, smiling. " Well, I'm gonna go take a shower and then go to sleep," I yawn. He nods, yawning too. I giggle at him. " Go to sleep puppy," I say. He shakes his head, his hand covering his mouth as he tries to hide another yawn. I roll my eyes. " That was horrible, go to sleep. I'm tired anyway," I say again. He finally gives in, giggling like a child as he leans all the way forward and kisses his camera. I laugh, waving to him as I hang up. I close my laptop and grab some clothes, walking to the bathroom.

I start the shower, making it pretty hot for my tense muscles. I get inside and wash myself, humming a tune. I hop out the shower and dry off, tossing the towel on the floor as I change into my clothes. I take my clothes back to the room, tucking them away as I crawl into bed, playing some music.

As my eyes get heavy, my eyes float over my room, closing as I see my towel draped over my clothes.

Wait, what?!
