As my guilt starts to kick so does my hunger. I can pratically hear my stomach calling out to me to feed it. I knew this would happen since it is past noon, and I hardly ate breakfast this morning. There isn't much to eat back at the house, so my only option is to stay out and get something.
I instantly think about my cousin, and how she might want to eat out with me. Her and I really haven't done a girls' day, so maybe we can have lunch and do something fun. I carefully whip out my phone from my purse, trying not to lose control of the steering wheel. Being the good little driver I am, I attempt to use the bluetooth in this car.
This is Macy's mom's car, so I have no idea how to use all the high tech gadgets in it. Just to clear up any confusion, I'm using her car because she knew I needed one more than her. She hardly ever uses it because she works from home, and she can always use my uncle's car when she goes out. I am about to start my summer job, so I will need a way to get back and forth.
I awkwardly tell the car to call Macy, and it surprising starts to ring. I guess I know how to work it after all.
"Hi. This is Macy's at the Westfeild Connecticut Post Mall. This is Kaylen speaking. How may I help you?" The unrecognizable voice startles me. I should have known this was too good to be true.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Wrong number." I hang up the phone without even waiting for a response. That was so embarrassing. I try again and tell the car to call Macy, making sure I include her last name as well. This time it actually works and does what it's supposed to.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Mace! What are you doing?" I ask cheerfully into the speaker.
"I am actually gettiing of work because we have to close early to do inventory, so you called at a perfect time," I hear what I believe is her car door close in the background after she speaks.
"Oh really? Well I actually was going to ask you if you would like to join me in getting something to eat and have a little cousins' date." For some reason, since I'm not talking into an actual phone, I feel as though I have to increase the volume of my voice.
"Yeah, sure. That sounds good. Meet me at Panera Bread! Oh and I'm bringing someone along, if you don't mind. I just met her, but she has had a rough couple of days and seems to need someone to talk to." She asks what I think, but I know that no matter what I say, she will do what ever she wants in the end.
"Um, alright. I guess that's okay," I say with a slight hint of disappointment in my voice. I really wanted to just be with my cousin today, but I guess I will have to get over it.
"Cool! See you in a few!" I can practically hear the smile in her voice before she hangs up. This should be interesting.
Getting to the sandwich shop takes no time as all. The memory of how to get there comes back immediately, considering this is the place Mace, our other cousin, Emma, and I always went when we were in middle school.
I pull into the parking lot, instantly seeing Macy's car. Luckily, there is a spot open right next to her, and I park in it without any hesitation. I look over at her, but she seems to focused on her phone. Perfect. I quickly shut off the engine and jump out of my car, rushing over to hers.
I bring my hand up to her window and start to frantically pound on it. She literally hops out her seat, and I swear her head almost hits the ceiling. Looking over at me with a look on her face that no one would want to see, she opens her door.
"What the hell what that for? You scared the shit out me!" Macy grabs her purse from the passenger seat and proceeds to get out of her vehicle, clearly aggrivated.
