Rachel's POV--
It's been hours, and I still haven't heard from anyone. There really isn't any point in staying up if neither my cousin nor the boy I'm dating will return my calls. It's way past midnight anyways, which means it's passed my bed time for sure.
Turning off the lamp beside me and ensuring my phone is plugged into the charger, I tuck mysel into my light blue comforter I have had since I was in high school and try to forget about hwo everyone seems to be wanting to ignore me lately. I will just have to see how things go tomorrow.
For what feels like five minutes later but is really about four hours, an annoying sound comes from my bedside table. My room is still completely dark, so that means the sun hasn't even risen for morning yet. Who the hell could be calling me this early and for what reason? My eyes take a minute to adjust to the brightness on my phone before I can read the name on my screen. I then notice it Macy's name flashing across it, and I should have guessed it would be her.
"H-hello?" I attempt to say, clearing my throat and trying to be quiet at the same time.
"Shit. I totally forgot it's super early there. I'll call you tomorrow or wait...today. No, tomorrow. Oh, fuck." Just by the sound of her voice, I can tell that she's had a bit too many drinks. Great. What kind of story could she possible have to tell me now?
"Macy, no. You've already woken me up, so you might as well tell me why you called." I reach over to turn my lamp back on, so I'm not sitting on my bed in the dark.
"Well," she pauses to have a giggle fit. I really hope what she has to tell me is worth waking me up in the middle of the night. "I wanted to tell you to not believe anything Amy or Asher tell you. Amy is a complete liar, and Asher is totally clueless."
Her words then trail off, and I can faitly hear her talking to someone. I think she says something like 'I had to,' but I can't tell what the other person is saying. What could Macy possibly be going on about though? I don't understand what Amy could be lying about and how Macy is involved. From what I know, Asher and Amy are broken up, and Amy's name should no longer be coming out of anybody's mouth.
"Macy?" She doesn't answer. I'm pretty sure I hear a gulp as well. "Macy, get back on the phone. Tell me what's going on."
Trying to whisper while getting a drunk person's attention is proving to be a challenge.
"Hey, Kyle's telling me to let you get back to sleep, so I will talk to you, um, later. Just know that Amy is not, uh, shit. She's not, oh, she's not pregnant."
With that, Macy hangs up, leaving me completely confused about that entire phone call. Amy's pregnant? Well, actually according to Macy, she's not. If she had to call me to confirm I know the truth, then Amy must be going around telling people that she is in fact having a baby, Asher's baby. That's what she must have meant when she mentioned Asher being clueless. He probably thinks that Amy's telling the truth, but why doesn't he know what Macy knows? This is too much for my brain to handle at five in the morning, and all these puzzle pieces will have to wait to be put together in a few hours.
_______
Waking up with so many thoughts and questions swirling around in my head is definitely not the mos ideal way to start my day. If I remember correctly, Macy called me, completely drunk, and told me that Amy is telling people she's pregnant. Asher seems to believe her, but Macy knows she's lying. How is this even supposed to make me feel? Do I feel releaved that Amy's not actually havig a child with Asher or am I supposed to be mad that no one has filled me in, especially Asher? I know that Macy must have been dying to tell me or else she wouldn't have had to been drunk to say anything.
