Liesel spends everyday up until the wedding ignoring her nausea and inclination to fainting at the slightest amount of stress. Liesel is terrified at the moment. Of what might be coming. It isn't as harsh as it sounds, a baby. Liesel knows deep down that she is pregnant, and of course it's Rudy's. There is no question about it.
(Liesels POV)
One of the reasons I wanted to get married so soon was because I knew secretly what was coming. I of course love Rudy with all my heart and every piece of my soul, but I know I will need my child to have a family the moment it sees this awfully cruel world. I was born in a shelter for the poor, my parents didn't care about me not being born in a suitable household, they were young and happy. Their happiness obviously didn't last. This morning when I was sick Oma walked in on me. She didn't say she knew but she when she walked in and heald my hair back and smiled at me knowingly I was sure of it. I have never warmed up to Oma, she isn't like me. I know Rudy will have to know soon but I don't know if I should tell him before the wedding. Will he realize part of the reason I wanted to get married so soon was because I was pregnant and not completely because of my love for him. Would he understand my reason, do I understand my reason? I walked down stairs to the kitchen and Rudy sat there staring at little Becky as she played with her applesauce. He laughed a little and heald her chubby hand and kissed it. This was the time.
I slid into the wicker seat next to Rudy and kissed his cheek. He smiled at me wrapped his arm around my shoulder, making me even more anxious to tell him. Becky looked up at me like she already knew, she touched my hand sweetly as if to tell me it's okay. I smiled at her with tears in my eyes. "Rudy?" I whispered. I didn't want Max to overhear. "Yes, saumensch?" He grinned at me. I glared at him so he would understand how serious this was. "I mean, yes Liesel?" I smiled and kissed his cheek again. My hand was shaking violently as reached to hold his. He looked at me with concern and love as I moved his hand off the table and onto my stomach. His eyes widened as he realized what was happening. I couldn't breath as I awaited his answer. He couldn't breath either as he started to choke. He laughed then. "Rudy?" He had tears in his eyes when he smiled at me. "Liesel, I can't tell you how happy I am." I finally breathed. He heald me tightly in his arms. "Why were you worried, I love you Liesel." He whispered to me. I looked at Becky who was asleep. "I love you too, saukerl."
The next chapter will be the wedding so hopefully you aren't to upset with how short this chapter is.
