"Oh" is all I manage to say

I would never think that my best friend Ali would do something like that.

"Today was when Jake found out about it when he was down at the shops and he was walking passed a group of smokers. He asked who they were talking about and they said my name. I'm such an idiot! I didn't want him to find out so I continued to lie to him. Told him that nothing happened at the party. So when he found out he was furious."

My thoughts are running wild. Ali, out of all people. Why? Then again she was drunk, but she knew exactly what was going on but she didn't stop herself or that guy. I don't blame Ali for all of it but she was stupid enough to go along with it.

"What's done is done." Is all I can think of saying. I know it sounds rude but what was I supposed to say after what I just heard.

"So, you're not mad at me? Wanting to kick me out of your house and never speak to me again?

What?!

"No! Ali you've been my bestfriend for as long as I can remember I wouldn't just drop you in an instance because of one mistake. Although it was a pretty bad mistake but it had nothing to do with me. Don't beat yourself up too much." I reply.

I love Ali so much. She's always stuck by me. I don't know what I would do if she weren't here.

"Oh. Okay." That simple reply from her.

I hug her again tightly. No more tears from her which is a good thing but she looks uneasy. She's safe with me. No one can hurt her here.

We continue to talk and I continue to make her laugh until mum and Grace finally return. And it's now 5:00pm.

Grace comes in with bags full of junk and a few clothes. Mum told me that she spent every last cent that she had.

Grace is like that.

Mum begins to get dinner ready but I'm thinking of going out somewhere with Ali so mum won't harass Ali about what happened earlier today.

I decide to approach mum. I hope she lets us go out. I am old enough now to make my own decisions so she can't really force me to stay.

I'm in the kitchen but she doesn't notice that I'm here. I clear my through and then she hears me. She turns around and I decide that I should talk now before I never get a chance to again.
