Insomnia

Have you ever been so tired your eyes burn

So tired you can't think clearly

And you can feel your stomach churn

And your eyes become bleary

But no matter how hard you try you can't seem to sleep

There's this nagging thought

This nagging feeling

Some long forgotten itch at the back of your mind taunting you

Or some fear that keeps haunting you

So you lay awake and listen wearily

You stare at the ceiling

You try and count sheep

But its useless

Seconds tick by

Then minutes have passed

Hours have disappeared

And the next thing you know the moon has been replaced by the sun

The stars have become clouds

And its time to get up

So you get up and do the same things as the day before

Only to come back and not sleep again

Its irritating

Horribly frustrating

Sleepless nights

become sleepless weeks

bags begin to form under your eyes

you walk around all day practically hypnotized

Eventually so long without sleep, you forget how to rationalize

you become almost completely immobilized

Has that ever happened to you?

Its called insomnia

It causes you to not be able to sleep

You begin to fail at counting sheep

It becomes so bad your unable to shut your eyes

You become suffocated by all the real life nightmares

Your entire being becomes impaired

People begin to wonder how you survive

No sleep

Can't count sheep

Eyes burn

Stomachs churn

Eyes become bleary

Senses become weary

And suddenly the insomnia takes over

Its what your life revolves around

Your stuck

There's no one that can help

The insomnia is now your life

And to think

All you had to do was tell someone you couldn't sleep
