Chapter 15

Rachael and I run inside. "What's happening?" I ask. "They found us." Luke breaths. Michael looks worried. "Whose out there?" I ask. "Daniel, Chase, Tony, Connor, Nick, and Jarvis." Luke says. "What can Nick and Jarvis do?" I ask. "Nick can make earthquakes and earth stuff. Jarvis can create sonic waves." Michael explains. Another rumble goes through the building. "We have to get out of here." Lincoln says. Just then, electricity came through the wall. We jump aside. Water starts seeping in through the walls and floor. "Well we can't teleport now. We have the water on our shoes. If water is on us, Daniel will find us." Ben says. The wall explodes. Tony walks through. "Ready for round two already?" I say. "You bet. This time I won't loose." Tony replies. He pulls out a metal ball and throws it. It hits me in the face and blows up. Didn't feel it, but it blew me back a bit. He tackles me. I have to get Rachael out of here. My eyes catch fire as do my hands. I blast him to the ceiling. I roll out of the way as he falls back to the ground. I look around and see Luke battling Daniel, Lincoln battling Jarvis, Stephen battling Chase, and Ben going at Connor. Michael is sitting over in the corner sleeping. Rachael left the room. Good she has some sense. Tony slams into me. I push him of. I'm taller than he is, but he is putting up a fight. He pulls out a ball and flings it. I dive away and it explodes. I send a fireball his way the size of a basketball. He dodges it and pulls out three balls and flings them. All I can do is take it. They all hit me. The force send me crashing through the wall. That hurt. My bones hurt. I think I may have a concussion. He jumps through the wall after me. I make an x with my arm and the air in front of becomes hot. He slams into it. He's unfazed he barrels into me. That didn't work. I knee him and kick his feet out from under him. I slam my fist into the ground as he gets up. The ground beneath his goes red. A geyser or lava rush out beneath him. He gets slammed into the ceiling. The ground beneath his becomes lava. He start to sink. He struggles and starts making his way towards me. But the lava starts cooling down and by the time he makes it to my feet it's cooled. Waist down he's stuck. "Round two goes to me." I mutter. I run back into the room where the battle is going on. Stephen is on the ground unconscious. Daniel is still battle with Luke. Connor is covered in ice. Lincoln is on the floor clutching his ribs. Ben is now battle Jarvis. Michael is now gone and so is Chase. Where is Chase. I run through the house and find Michael. He is trying to distract Chase, but it's not working. Rachael's here. "Ah he's finally here." Chase announces. Rachael is cornered. Micheal is too weak to fight. "Don't do this." I say. "Oh, but don't you think it's fair. You risked your life for her and now she will give it for you." He says with a sneer. "Don't do it or I'll...." I start. "What Sam? Kill me? I know your a good person, you would never. That's why I'll give you a chance. Surrender, all of you and she lives. We don't want anyone else to get hurt." Chase says. "Don't do it! It's a trick!" Michaels says Chase back hands him and then blasts him. He goes unconscious."It's your choice." Chase says. I don't say anything. "I'm getting impatient." He says. "I don't know." I stutter. "I don't know." He mocks. "5, 4," he starts. "Chase...." I say. "3, 2," he continues. "Chase, no. We can work this out." I say. I can't give up. I won't go back there. I won't make the rest go back. But Rachael. My thoughts battle. "2, 1," He says. My breathing stops and the worst decision of my live. I waited. He extended one finger, the finger of death. Pointing at Rachael. "Fine." He says. "No!" I scream. I shoot a huge blast towards him. But it's too late. A single electric bolt comes out of his finger. Towards Rachael. I trigger my super speed. It all happens in slow-mo. I run towards her. She's crying out of fear. The bolt is moving fast, even in super speed. Chase ducks out of the way, but the blast is too big. It gets one side of him. He falls to the ground in pain. The flames are out immediately. But I'm focused on the single blast. I'm so close. I reach for it, but it's to late. It slams into her chest, right where her heart is. Her eyes wide in panic. One single tear rolls off her cheek and hits the floor. "No!" I scream. I kneel beside her.. She struggles for breath, but I know her heart isn't working. She gasps. I crawl over to Michael and shake him viscously. "Wake up, wake up. You need to save her." I say. "Sam...." Rachael wheezes. I move back to her. "Yeah I'm here." I say. "Sam, I know your going to beat yourself up, but don't. It was worth it. Knowing you and John. I want you to be the good person I know you are. Don't let the power get the best of you," she wheezes and coughs, "tell my parents, I love...." She never finished. She looked into my eyes and breathed her last breath. I cried there holding her. I cried until Ben was telling us we needed to go. Chase was laying unconscious. I was tempted to do something, but remember what Rachael said. I didn't let go of Rachael until Luke dragged me through the portal. Hollowness took over me.
