Chapter 28: The Fall of Levenhood

A few days back at Levenhood Kingdom

"Your majesty! Our spies had received unexpected information." A guard came rushing in the castle.

"What is it?" The Great General replied.

"If they are correct, the information we gather suggests that Ravenrock and Andeena had made a temporary alliance and their aim was to destroy us." The guard read the information from the spies. "They are on their way here as we speak sir."

"Hmm, so they see us a a big threat. Very well, prepare the entire army! We will crush both of them before they enter our lands. We shall leave immediately, sound all the horns and evacuate the civilians to deeper grounds in the kingdom." The Great General ordered.

Levenhood kingdom was so vast, it had two types of climate there. Their great retreat was in the Frozen Mountains which was behind the kingdom. There, the last stronghold stands with the heir to the throne as the ruler of the city, Prince Salem.

Almost 90% of the army were preparing to advance to stop the imminent invasion of the two kingdoms, the other 10% would remain in the kingdom, guarding it. The Great General called upon his family, his wife, two prince and a princess came.

"My family, the war had turned against us. I believe this will be the last time I will be seeing you. The two kingdoms had joined forces to destroy us, so I ask all of you to go to the Frozen Mountains where the eldest is. He is being informed about the situation as we speak." The Great General addressed.

"No father! Don't say that, we will meet again! We must--" the Princess started crying.

"Selena, you must be brave and strong. I hope I can come back alive, everything I've done was to protect you, our family and my people. This is for the best." The Great General comforted.

The queen and the princes were silent, they knew it was the hard truth.

"Now go. I must prepare for the battle ahead." He added.

The Great General hugged the entire family then he left for the armory. The royal family would be escorted to the Frozen Mountains.

He entered the armory and wore his armor and took his huge longsword. He then went out to the field where almost 100.000 soldiers were ready to fight. "My men, today comes the day where we fight once again, the odds are very much not in our hands, but we must fight. Fight for our families and fight for our people! We must not let them pass us! We will stop them, even if it takes all of us to do so. Follow me to the battlefield! For Levenhood!" He gave a speech infront of his men.

"Hooraa! For Levenhood!" All of his men chanted. They march towards the enemy, cavalries went first, followed by spearmen, swordsmen then archers. But just as they left the outer gates of the kingdom, the enemy were waiting. They had arrived faster than expected. Landships, beasts, guns and magic could be seen from the other side. The information was true.

And so the battle for Levenhood broke out. What The Great General didn't know was that mages and musketeers teleported inside the kingdom, to the capital. They killed the remaining soldiers inside, also killed civilians that were fleeing and burnt buildings to the ground. The distance from the capital to the outer walls was 2 days on horseback.

In the capital, the royal family just left the and were headed to the Frozen Mountains. From the carriages, they could hear explosions from the capital.

"They're here already? But how--- is father---" Princess Selena was shocked, she held her rapier a bit tighter. The royal family were in separate carriages, in case something might happen during the travel.

The convoy was soon intercepted by the mages and musketeers. The mages casted spells that created flames around the convoy unabling them to advance forward or turn back. The knights accompanying the royal family immediately attacked the mages. Selena looked out of the window to see her knights being killed one by one. Then one knight came to her and dragged her outside. "You must flee your highness, follow me." The knight said.

Amongst the chaos, the knight and Princess Selena jumped the flames and run towards the nearby woods. The queen and princes were killed already by gunfire.

"Keep running!" The knight shouted. Then musketeers came from the bushes, surrounding them. A musketeer then shot the knight and killed him. "Well, well, well. What do we have here. Perhaps our commanders would love having you." A musketeer said before he knocked her out.

Present Time

Zuno, Wize and Sam prepared to venture further into the kingdom, looking for survivors from the cities and villages outside the kingdom wall.

"Should we go inside the kingdom wall? I mean, there could be survivors. I know they are from a kingdom, but they're devastated---" before Sam finished, Zuno said "We'll go."

"What about her?" Wize pointed at the princess who was lying on the bed in the house.

"We'll have two of our people escort her to Floran City and maybe even with you Sam." Zuno advised.

"Sure, I'll go with her and tell Grim that we need more people here to help with the survivors." Sam agreed.

One of the women who went with them, came in. She had scouted ahead to see the conditions of the city. "It's worse. Their soldiers are still patrolling the streets, looking for survivors an when they find out that the princess is missing, well.... you know." She said.

"Damn it!" Wize cursed.

"We should go back for now, as for the people, let's hope they survive." Zuno said. Not long after, the princess woke up.

"Where am I?" She asked.

"You are in a ruined house in a ruined city." Sam said as he gave her a glass of water.

"Drink up, I healed you, but you still need time before you are back to your oldself."

"We should leave, now that she's awake. The Ravenrock and Andeenan army are not far. I'll go out first and check out if the coast is clear." Zuno said. "Sam, come help me."
Zuno and Sam went out and Sam uses his magic to check if there are any magic present in the area. Zuno was looking around when a thunder spell was casted at him. His shadows came out and blocked the thunder. He took out his sword and looked where the spell came from. "Sam, we're not alone."

"I know where it came from." Sam said as he teleported to the location and killed the mage. "It's done, let just hurry up and leave."

They went back to the house, "Let's go, immediately." Zuno said. They all packed up, left the house and headed back to Floran City.

The Great General and a few of his men returned back after winning the battle. But he found his kingdom burnt to the ground and the enemy soldiers were everywhere.
"Hello there friend, long time no see." A voice greeted him. In front of him, in the capital, two figures stood. It was King Wells The Third and High-Mage Ulric. "I'll let you know that your family is no more and we have now taken over your kingdom." King Wells made clear.

Out of anger, The Great General charged at them with his horse and drew his longsword. High-Mage Ulric leaped at high speed towards The Great General and placed his palm on the Great General's chest, blasting him off his horse and went through buildings. The Great General was barely alive, with his blurry vision, he saw a figure on top of him holding a sword.

They had walked for a few hours. The Princess walked beside Zuno and Wize, "Thank you, for saving me back then. I owe you two. My name is Selena." She said.

"No,no princess. We were just doing our job.  You don't owe us anything." Zuno replied.

"Pleasure all ours princess. It's what we do, so yeah, like Zuno said, you don't owe us anything." Wize also answered.

The princess blushed and they continued their journey back.
