Chapter One: Different Things

A woman is seen taking a child. A hedgehog, specifically. Two parents, a king and queen, bolt out of bed too late. their child is gone.

~TimeSkip named Querp~

A little girl, a human with long brown hair and green eyes, tip-toes to a window and watches as hundreds of balloons fly off the island of a nearby kingdom on her birthday.

-Present Day-

(____'s PoV)

I was running through the tower with Miles playing tag. He was it. Who is Miles, you ask? My best friend, only friend, and only person I knew apart from my mother. I was 13, just old enough to take care of the house while Mother's gone.

~elsewhere~

Three hedgehogs, a rare sight indeed, are running to a trap door. One, a cobalt blue, is in the lead. Two others, one green and the other black and crimson, are right behind. They get to the trap door without catching any attention.

"Wow. I sure could get used to a view like this," the cobalt one said.

"Let's go, pinball!" the green one snarled.

"Ok, ok," the blue one replied as he got tied to a rope. He was lowered down the trap door when a human guard, (very unusual) sneezed.

"Ugh, Hay fever?"

"Yeah"

The guard then realized what was happening and turned around but he was already gone.

"CALL THE GUARDS!"

Very soon, a chase seen ensued. A silver hedgehog was flying close to them. A man, who was being carried by the hedgehog's powers, yelled,

"HALT!"

-the orphanage-

"I'm gonna do it. Im gonna ask her, Miles"

"Great! Maybe she'll say yes this time!"

"_____, let me in!" a different voice said.

"Coming Mother! Miles, hide."

"Ok" Miles said as he hid.

_____ typed the password and the door opened.

"Hello, Mother!" she said as she hugged her. "Mother.... May I ask you something?"

"Yes?"

"Well, as you know, tomorrow's my birthday and I was wondering if..."

"If?"

"I want to see the floating lights!"

"You must mean the stars."

"The thing is, I've charted stars, and they are constant. But these, they appear on my birthday. Only on my birthday. And I can't help but feel that they were meant for me."

"Yes Mother?"

"Promise me you'll never ask to leave again."
