Main Performance Tent, Albany High
Enter OWEN, THALIA, PETE, HANA, LEONARDO, and AUDIENCE
HANA: Leo, do you think Halle and Derick will come to watch the show?
LEONARDO: Even if they did, I don’t think they’d come to the back where we are.
HANA: That’s true. I’m just getting a bad feeling about this.
LEONARDO: Don’t worry, my dear. Everything will be all right.
Enter DERICK and HALLE
DERICK: I can’t believe you lied to me! They aren’t here!
HALLE: They are! They told me! I still have a text to prove it!
[Looks around]
DERICK: There they are! Perfect! There are free seats next to them!
[Walks towards them]
HALLE: [sighs and follows him]
HANA: Oh no! They’re here and they saw us!
LEONARDO: It’s a good thing you’re on the end. Don’t worry. He’ll have to sit next to me.
DERICK: Hello Hana, my dear. Leonardo...
[Glares]
LEONARDO: [glares back]
HANA: Halle! How could you?!
HALLE: [hangs head in shame and sits next to Leonardo]
DERICK: [sits next to Halle]
PETE: [On stage]
Welcome, one and all to the magnificent magic show! Without further ado, we now welcome our magician, Owen the Great!
OWEN: [walks onto stage]
Good night everyone!
For my first act I will pull a rabbit out of a hat!
DERICK: Ooh! Magic! I love these kinds of illusions.
HALLE: [giggles]
You’re so cute.
HANA: [whispers to Leonardo]
I think I’m going to be sick.
LEONARDO: It’s okay. Everything will be fine. He’s so caught up in the show that he’s completely forgotten about us.
OWEN: Voila! And now for the main attraction! I am going to hypnotise my lovely assistant Thalia and make her fall in love with me!
LEONARDO: Aren’t they already a couple though?
HANA: Exactly.
OWEN: [swings pocket watch in front of Thalia’s face]
Follow the watch with your eyes
THALIA: [follows watch with her eyes]
AUDIENCE: [follows watch with their eyes]
DERICK: [follows watch with his eyes]
LEONARDO: [follows watch with his eyes]
OWEN: You are getting sleepy, very sleepy.
THALIA: [eyes droop]
DERICK: [eyes droop]
LEONARDO: [eyes droop]
OWEN: You are asleep.
THALIA: [falls asleep]
DERICK: [falls asleep]
LEONARDO: [falls asleep]
OWEN: And when I snap my fingers, you will wake up and fall in love with the first person that you see.
[Snaps fingers]
HALLE: [spills her drink and squeals loudly]
LEONARDO: [wakes up and looks at Halle]
DERICK: [wakes up and looks at Halle]
THALIA: [stands up and hugs Owen]
I love you.
AUDIENCE: [awes and applauds]
That is so sweet!
Adorable!
OWEN: And now my brother, Pete will be performing some amazing illusions!
Exeunt OWEN and THALIA
HANA: Leo wasn’t that cute!
LEONARDO: Not as cute as Halle.
HALLE: Excuse me?
HANA: What?
DERICK: Back off, Leo. Her beauty belongs to me. Doesn’t it Halle?
HALLE: I belong to nobody but myself. What’s gotten into you two?
HANA: Leo, did you hit your head or something.
LEONARDO: If I did, it was when I was falling for Halle.
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
HANA: [confused]
Since when do you quote Shakespeare for her? Something is terribly wrong.
DERICK: Don’t you know, Leonardo, that Halle’s heart belongs to me?
And mine to her.
HALLE: As strange as this is, I don’t really mind that much anymore. It’s just Leonardo that’s creeping me out. Hana, what’s going on?
HANA: I got it! The hypnotism! We have to find Owen and get him to de-hypnotize them! Or at least Leonardo… I think that we both prefer Derick like that.
HALLE: You’re right... about the hypnotism and the keeping Derick like this. Let’s go find Owen.
Exeunt HALLE, HANA, LEONARDO and DERICK
