Abandoned Music Room, Albany High.
Enter OWEN, THALIA & PETE
OWEN: Aren’t we lucky that we found this room and the principal let us use it? I wonder what other abandoned rooms there are in this school… It’s such a waste of space.
THALIA: Do you have your magic stuff?
OWEN: Of course! Thank you so much, again, for helping me out with this.
THALIA: It’s okay! It’ll be a lot of fun helping you with your ‘magic’. I’m looking forward to spending the extra practice time with you.
PETE: [gags]
Can you two lovebirds at least PRETEND to notice that I’m in the room?
OWEN: [laughs]
Okay, so here’s the plan: I am going to swing this necklace watch thing-
PETE: Pocket watch
OWEN: Right, pocket watch. I’m going to swing this pocket watch in front of your face and you are going to pretend to be falling asleep. Then I’ll hypnotize you and make you fall in love with me!
THALIA: But I’m already in love with you.
OWEN: Exactly! When you wake up you tell me that and you hug me and voila! Audience fooled! It’s perfect!
THALIA: Sounds great! All I have to do is follow the pocket watch with my eyes right?
OWEN: yep!
PETE: So what do I do?
OWEN: You’re my assistant. I would saw you in half but I don’t have the type of box I’d need to do that.
PETE: Okay… but what do I have to do?
OWEN: Just do whatever I tell you to do. You’ll have to pass me the pack of cards, display the pocket watch; I’ll even take a break half time so that you can do your own illusions.
PETE: Really?
OWEN: Sure, why not?
[Bell rings]
THALIA: We better get to class. See you later?
OWEN: of course
PETE: sure, bye!
