Trigger warning: self harm.

Scott couldn't sleep. He would lay with Mitch as he slept but hadn't got one hour of sleep for days. Mitch started to notice the bags under his eyes and how Scott moved around, like every tiny movement took way too much effort.
Mitch tried to talk to Scott but talking to him wasn't going to make the problem go away.
One morning after Mitch took Leah to school he came back home. He threw the car keys on the counter and started in the direction of their room.
Hearing a loud thud and glass shattering stopped him in his tracks. He ran to the kitchen to see Scott on his knees with a broken wine bottle shattered on the ground. The dark red liquid puddles the floor in front of him.
"Are you okay! Here let me get a broom and mop to clean this up." Mitch said rushing out the room. He came back and saw Scott slowly pick up a large shard of glass.
He was looking at it was tears in his eyes blurring his vision. He started to bring it to his wrist. "Scott! Stop!" He heard Mitch scream but he couldn't stop staring at the shard of glass.
He just wanted to sleep. He just wanted some relief of some kind. He started to drag it along one of his wrist but before he could make it deep enough someone grabbed the hand he was using.
Scott kept the shard firmly in his hand as Mitch tried to pull it from his grasp. His hand slipped sending the shard to slice through Mitch's hand.
Mitch yelped in pain and Scott immediately dropped the shard. Mitch grabbed his hand as blood started to seep through. He stood up grabbing a paper towel to quickly wrap it up. He did things quickly so that he could get Scott out of the room with glass in it.
He wrapped it up tightly and still within seconds the blood seeped through. Mitch didn't care at this point he just needed to get Scott out of there. Scott hadn't moved he just stared horrified at the ground with nothing in his hands.
Mitch grabbed his hand with his good one and pulled him off the ground. He made sure Scott didn't step on any glass as the made their way out of the kitchen.
He pulled Scott into the bathroom and he sat on the counter. Mitch grabbed all the razors and things that could harm Scott out of the bathroom before leaving Scott there. The towel he wrapped his hand in was soaked with blood and was dripping.
Mitch didn't pay any attention to it he just cleaned up the glass and wiped up the blood and wine off the floor. He walked back into the bathroom seeing that Scott hadn't move he checked if he was okay.
Mitch only saw the cut that Scott did on purpose that was barely a sliver. Mitch still with shaking hands opened the bandaids and wraps.
Mitch finally got one out and wrapped it around his wrist. Mitch was starting to get a little dizzy and shaky from losing so much blood. He carefully but shakily pulled the bloody towel off, wincing in pain. He put the towel on the counter and thanked god it had stopped bleeding.
He put his hand under the faucet and ran water on his hand until most of the dried blood was washed off. He dabbed it dry with another paper towel before getting the wrap and wrapping it up.
Scott hadn't spoken the whole time until Mitch finished wrapping his hand up.
"I'm sorry..." he whispered and Mitch looked up at him with tears in his eyes.
"Don't ever scare me like that ever again!" He yelled, his voice trembling. "What if I didn't come home right away!? What if you... what about Leah? What about me? You're not alone Scott. I'm right here! You can talk to me!"
"I just wanted to sleep..." Scott said looking down, "I just wanted some kind of relief." Mitch looked at him and nodded.
"We can find other ways to do those things. Ways where you won't lose me or Leah. Ways where we won't lose you, okay?"
"I'm sorry." He said again looking at Mitch's hand. Mitch looked down as well before sighing.
"Cmon lets go. I gotta get this actually checked out and we'll ask them about sleep okay?" He said and Scott hesitated before getting of the counter. Mitch held Scott's hand with his good hand to the car and from the car into the hospital.
Mitch ended up having to get stitches and they got some sleeping pills for Scott. They hadn't spoken a word to each other tho whole trip. Scott didn't speak a word he just let Mitch do all the talking.
They got home a few hours later and it was time to go pick up Leah. Normally Mitch would've just picked her up but now... he didn't want Scott to be alone.
"Okay Scottie let's go pick up Leah." He said and Scott looked at him confused before realizing why.
Scott looked down at his hands, "You don't trust me." He said quietly and Mitch took a deep breath.
"Scott-" Scott stood up cutting him off.
"I'm not gonna do it again. I promise." He said and Mitch nodded.
"I believe you. But it would make me feel better if you came with me."
"Then you don't believe me." Scott said looking into Mitch's eyes.
"Scott just please come with me." He whispered and Scott's eyes filled with tears.
"I will prove it to you." He said and Mitch smiled a little.
"Good. Now come with me please." He whispered and Scott nodded.
