Kevin had been patched up pretty quickly, because of Avi the bullet went through the side of his thigh and didn't get stuck. He was sent off with a bandage, some pain pills, and crutches.
He wouldn't leave the hospital even though Avi wanted him to go him and rest. Kevin stayed in the waiting room with the rest of them. Kirstie was sitting next to Nicole biting her fingers. Avi sat on the floor holding Scott who had finally stopped crying. He just sat there and stared at the ground leaning into Avi.
Mitch had been in surgery for nine hours and it was now 2 am. Kevin slept with his leg propped up on the floor while Kirstie sat next to Nicole biting her finger nails. Avi sat on the floor holding Scott who had finally stopped crying. He just sat there and stared at the ground leaning into Avi.
Scott felt numb. He had been crying on and off for the past nine hours. Now he just felt numb. He got up out of Avi's arms and everyone looked at him.
He got back on the ground and laid down in the middle of the floor spreading his arms out. He stared up at the ceiling and took a deep breath before closing his eyes.
When ever Alex was beating him or raping him, Scott dealt with it by going into a happy place. He went there now.
The sky was a bright blue and the sun created a golden blanket on the grass. He looked to his right and saw the cave. He walked over to it and smiled when he saw Mitch sitting there waiting for him.
"Hello handsome," Mitch said as he climbed into the cave. He kissed him quickly smiling.
"Hi gorgeous," He whispered and Mitch blushed before turning around to grab a small box. He turned to Scott and handed it to him.
"What's this?" Scott asked untying the ribbon. He opened it to find a small golden key. He picked it up looking at it closely before looking at Mitch for an explanation.
He lifted his wrist to reveal the expensive bracelet I had given him in high school. The bracelet came with a key and I told him to give the key to someone who has his heart.
"You've had my heart for many years Scottie but I never found the right moment to give it to you." he said and he felt his eyes tear up in happiness.
"I love you so much, Mitchie." he whispered before kissing him passionately, "You've had my heart for a long time too."
They laid down and Mitch curled up to Scott's chest. Scott breathed in his scent and kissed his forehead, "I wish this was real." he whispered before closing his eyes.
He opened his eyes again to see the plain white ceiling. He sighed when he felt a tear slip down the side of his eye. He made no effort to stop it he just continued to stare up into the ceiling.
"Why does my life keep falling apart?" he thought out loud and everyone almost jumped at the noise. Avi got up from his seat on the floor and laid down next to him.
"I don't know buddy, but it hasn't totally fell apart yet. You still have all of us. You still have Mitch. Don't give up hope Scott. Not yet." Avi said and Scott glanced at him before continuing on the ceiling.
"I hope you all know that if he doesn't make it, I wont either. I hope you know that it is none of your guys' fault. I will finally be happy with him and no one will be able to hurt us." he said and they all stared at him with tears in his eyes.
Avi looked at him seriously, "Let's all hope that it wont come to that." Scott looked at him and nodded. He grabbed Avi's hand and squeezed.
"Let's hope." he whispered. As if on que the doctor walked in. Scott and Avi were immediately on their feet.
"Mitch Grassi?" he asked.
"Yes," Scott said in almost a whisper. He was terrified that the news coming from the doctor's mouth would be bad.
"I'm not going to make you wait. He's fine and he will make a full recovery." the doctor said and Scott almost collapsed in relief. He squeezed onto Avis hand and sighed in relief. "It was a rocky surgery and we lost him a few times but we were able to stabilize him. The bullet had hit an artery and he lost a lot of blood. We were able to patch up the artery and stabilize him. He will need to stay here for a few more days to rest and so that we can see that he is doing okay."
Scott took a deep breath, it felt like he hadn't been breathing that entire night, "Can I see him?" he asked and the doctor nodded.
"Yes, he's sleeping now but he should wake within the next few hours or so. Visiting hours don't start until nine a.m. so if anyone asks tell them I cleared you guys." he said and Avi thanked him.
Scott immediately followed him into Mitch's room. His eyes welled up in tears when he saw him. He felt like he hadn't seen Mitch in years when in reality he saw him just a few hours ago. Mitch was sleeping soundly with IV's coming from his arms.
Scott pulled up a chair next to the bed and sat in it. He took Mitch's hand in his and kissed the top of his hand. "Thank you for fighting for me baby. I'm going to be okay now." he whispered thanking what ever god was out there that Mitch was okay.
"Let me know when he wakes up, I'm going to go get Kevin some food that isn't hospital food." Avi said quietly and Scott nodded not looking at him.
As Avi started to leave Scott spoke up, "Thank you, Avi. For everything." Avi smiled genuinely and nodded before exiting the room. Kirstie and Nicole came in next and just stood at the foot of the bed.
"We're gonna head home and get some sleep, let us know when he wakes up okay?" Kirstie asked and Scott nodded again only looking at Mitch.
----
A few hours past and Scott had been resting his head on the bed next to their interlocked fingers. He felt a slight movement above him and he immediately looked up.
"Scott?" the brunette croaked looking around at the unfamiliar surroundings. Scott squeezed his hand and tears started to fall down his cheeks again.
"Hey baby, " he whispered and Mitch looked around confused.
"What happened? Why am I in a hospital? Why aren't we on our plane?" he asked and Scott frowned.
"What do you remember baby?" he asked and Mitch furrowed his eyebrows as if thinking hard until his eyes widened and he looked at Scott horrified.
"That man! He shot me... That's all. He ruined our wedding..." Scott nodded but looked down, he didn't know how to tell him about Mike. He honestly had been so focused on Mitch and if he was safe and okay that he hadn't thought bout it.
It suddenly hit him like a ton of bricks, he started to cry harder again and Mitch squeezed his hand, "What? What else happened? Where is everyone? Is everyone okay?" he asked in a panic.
"Everyone's fine, Kevin was shot but only in the leg. He's okay but..." Scott took a deep breath and Mitch stared at him.
"What? But what?" he asked and Scoot looked down.
"H-he... He shot Mike..." Mitch just stared at him waiting, praying he would finish that sentence telling him that he was okay.
"Well, where is he? Is he here? What hospital room is he in?" Scott looked at him with tears streaming down his cheeks.
"Mitchie..." he whispered, "He shot him in the head, he was dead before the paramedics even came."
Mitch's heart stopped and he shook his head, "No." he said shortly and Scott's heart broke even more, "No... He can't be... My dad can't be dead, Scott!" Mitch started to yell, "This can't be happening... this can't be..." he started to sob loudly and Scott immediately got onto the tiny bed to wrap his arms around him.
Mitch held onto him for dear life and cried his heart out. After what seemed like forever Mitch stopped crying and just fell asleep in his arms. Scott kissed his forehead and whispered, "I'm so sorry, baby."
