Mitch woke up and immediately spun around in the bed to make sure Scott was still in bed next to him. He was. He hadn't moved since yesterday. Mitch sighed in relief and layed his head on Scott's chest.
He listened to Scott's breathing to reassure he was still breathing and to calm himself down. He was glad Scott was sleeping finally but it also scared him.
Mitch did feel relieved but he couldn't fully calm down until Scott was awake. Or in reality when he was okay again.
Mitch decided to get up a few minutes later. He hopped in the shower. He took a longer one to let himself fully break down. He sobbed and sat down on the wet tile. He hugged his knees and just let it all out.
About 45 minutes later when he didn't have any more tears he finally got out. He dryer himself off and walked out the bathroom, the towel hanging loosely on his hips.
His heart dropped when he saw that the bed was empty. "Scott!?" He called and rushed out the room. "Scott!?" He tried again when he didn't get an answer.
He sighed in relief when he saw that Leah's door was open and she heard her small laugh. He opened the door and smiled when he saw Scott tickling Leah.
"MITCHIE! Help me!" She screamed laughing and squirming in Scott's arms. Scott slowed and turned to smiling at Mitch.
"I'm gonna go get dressed." Mitch said looking away. He walked back down the hallway and felt like he could cry. He was smiling.
His eyes teared up and he pulled on a pair of underwear and joggers. "Please stop crying. I'm really sorry." Mitch snapped his head up and shook his head wiping his tears.
"No, no these are happy tears. I'm fine." Scott shook his head.
"Not this morning... I heard you when I woke up... I'm sorry Mitch. I really am." Mitch nodded and tried to believe him.
Mitch would never admit it but Scott broke all of Mitch's trust. He didn't think Scott was sorry. He knew Scott wasn't sorry. He knew Scott would probably do it again in a heartbeat if he had the chance and that broke his heart.
"I think you need to go to therapy." Mitch said and paused so the information settled in.
"Mitch I don't ne-" Mitch looked him in the eye and spoke with a dangerous tone.
"Don't you dare tell me you don't need it." Scott went white surprised at Mitch's tone. "You've tried to kill yourself twice in the past week. You need it. You need something. And I don't know what to do anymore. I can't give you the help you need so hopefully a therapist can help you."
"Mitch I..." he trailed off, "I'm sorry. I just wanted relief..." Mitch nodded.
"And you got it didn't you? You got to escape for a few hours. No consequences." Mitch's voice was wavering.
"There were consequences. I still woke up-" Mitch looked up at him his heart breaking. "I didn't mean it like that... I just meant that... I wasn't sleeping anymore..."
Mitch gulped and looked down. "Right. The only consequence was that you didn't die." Scott shook his head.
"Mitch I didn't mean it like that."
"Okay." He said realizing he couldn't say what he was feeling or he would feel guilty.
"Mitch I love you so much. I'm sorry okay?" Mitch nodded and went into Scott's awaiting arms. It wasn't worth fighting him on it.
"Will you please talk to me?"
"Will you talk to me? Whenever you think you should end it just come to me. Think about me-"
"I never think about you when I want to just end it because you'll make me want to stay." Mitch bit his lip to hold back a sob.
"That's the point. Please please think about me. I'm begging you to please come to me when you fill this way. Think about me and Leah. Hold on just a little longer until I'm at your side again and I can help you through it."
He nodded, "okay. I I just want to be okay Mitch. I want to be happy again." Mitch smiled and kissed him on the cheek gently.
"You will be. Scott. I promise."
