Jades POV
I yawned, struggling to keep my eyes open. The headlights of the cars were becoming blurry. I looked over and pushed the A/C button. "Gotta stay awake," I whispered to myself. I looked down at Jack. He was curled up, face leaning on the window. I wonder what his panic attack was about? Maybe it was just just the stress. I hope. I look back at the road and swerve a bit as I ran into the parts of the pavement that is supposed to alert sleeping drivers. I grabbed the coffee I had bought a few miles back when I gassed up the car. I drank a few sips but I knew coffee messes with your stomach after a while, and I didn't want to risk that. I put my cup down and glanced at the clock. 10:23pm. It was so dark. I yawned. I was supposed to switch off with Jack hours ago, but I don't have the guts to wake him up. I want him to rest. I looked up at the sign. 'Next motel in 16 miles.' I sighed and began to accelerate. The highway was almost empty besides the few cars like me who hadn't found a motel yet. I try to put my mind on other things. Like Canada. But I couldn't seem to notice I was alone with my thoughts. Crash the car. Intrusive thoughts. The other day Jack and I went to Michael's and I found a box cutter knife. I picked it up. I must've been looking at it because Jack came up behind me out of nowhere. I knew I would most likely never use one of those in the sense of hurting myself, but the urge to buy it was irregular. All I could do was think about how sharp it was and digging it into my leg and carving skin out like a pumpkin. Ever since Jack came up with the "if you do it i do it" rule I've started there. I could never live with myself if I was the reason Jack was hurting himself. I shook the thought out of my head while swerving off the road. "Too tired." I yawn. Before everything went to black.
Jacks POV
I shot up to the sound of a horn blaring. I squint and try to see what is happening. I look over at Jade to see her head in the wheel. "J-jade?" I lifted her off and pushed her back. I watched her in horror until I heard a snoring noise. She started snoring. I let out a huge sigh and started chuckling. I looked down at the clock. "11:23???" I whisper yelled. I was supposed to switch off?? Why didn't she wake me? I frowned. I got to her side and lifted her out and walked her over to the passenger seat. I placed her in and put a blanket over her after buckling her in.
I get in the drivers seat and take off.
