Chapter 21

I woke up and was sweating. I rolled over to find out what the source of heat was. I found that I couldn't move and there was something heavy over my body. I looked down and saw an arm draped over my waist.

I bit my lip nervously as I tried to remember what happened the night before. I picked the arm up, careful not to wake the owner and rolled over. I gasped as I saw Caelan's large dark eyes staring back at me. I screamed and fell back off the bed.

He lurched forward to catch me but I still hit the ground hard. I groaned and picked myself up. I rubbed my head and looked at Caelan who was hanging off the side of the bed.

I started to giggle and he rolled back laughing. The door swung open and my father ran in. His hair was a mess and his dark eyes didnt seem to be fully open. He had his cutlass out and one boot on. "What's going on!" He yelled.

I laughed harder and his sight found us and he started to laugh. "What is going on?" He laughed and leaned against the door frame. It was moments like this that made me glad that we had a wing of the school for us only.

"Caelan? Why is my daughter on the floor and why are you still in here?" He asked trying to keep a straight face.

"Uhh" Caelan laughed "I'm not actually sure Captain" he said scartching his head. It was cute how he called Daddy Captain.

"Daddy..." I said smiling. I propped my chin up against the bed.

"Yes, love?" He said smiling.

"Can I go to class today?" I asked.

"No. Absolutely not!" He shouted suddenly serious.

I sat up straight. Taken aback but his reaction. "But why?"

"Because if you remember you were nearly killed only last night! I'm not letting you anywhere those brothers. That's final" He said.

"I'll bring Caelan" I said hopeful.

He scowled "You're going to go even if I tell you not to arent you?"

"Of course Daddy. Who do you think I am?" I laughed.

He chuckled. "Definitely my daughter. Caelan if anything happens to her I will kill you. Got it lad?"

"Yes Captain" Caelan answered before sneaking a smile in my direction.

"Ok good. If anything happens you tell me straight away" Daddy said before he left.

Caelan grinned at me. "What are you planning in that evil little mind?"

"Me?" I said in an innocent voice "Evil? Come on Caelan how long have you known me?" I laughed and skipped over to my closet. I closed the door behind me and could still hear him chuckle. I picked out a lacy black dress and a pair of black combat boots. It was rather short but I didnt mind. It had long sleeves to cover my scars and that was all that mattered. I pulled it on and stepped outside. "Can you help me?" I asked Caelan and pointed to my zip at the back of my dress.

He turned me around and zipped it up. "So your plan?" He said whispering in my ear.

"Guilt trip. The whole day!" I giggled.

Caelan laughed. "Poor guy. Probably feels horrible already and you want to make him feel worse"

I nodded. "Oh and Saph. Please stay out of this" I said quietly.

"Fine. It could be fun to watch I guess?" She said. I was glad we were getting along.

"So class starts in.... 5 minutes ago. We're late" Caelan smiled.
