"So, do you make it a hobby to sneak up on poor, unsuspecting shoppers and scare them, or was it just me?" I asked.

The blonde beside me smiled and nodded. "You're the second person I've done it to. The first was my boyfriend. You shoulda seen his face. Even yours."

I shook my head and suppressed a smile.
Jessica had followed me around the supermarket and helped me with the majority of what I bought. She also offered to take me home since she had a car and I had loads of things to carry. At first, I wasn't so sure of her driving skills and I reckoned I still had my whole life ahead of me, but after she promised to drive slowly, I took her up on her offer.

"So, I see you bought a lot of things. Are you planning to sell 'em?" She inquired after a few minutes of silence. She tried to cover up her curiosity with nonchalance, it wasn't working.

    "No."

"So, what do you need all that for, I mean, it's more than enough to last you three years. You don't plan on stepping out of the house for another three years?"

I rolled my eyes. "You like to ask questions, don't you?"

"Yes. Yes, I do like to ask questions."

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her grinning. This was what I'd been trying to avoid. I turned on the radio and some music filtered into the car.  A few moments later, the music stopped.

"So, are you gonna answer my question or do I gotta force it out of you?"

I had no doubt that she was going to make good on her threat. "I need most of the supplies for the library. Have I answered your question now?" I grated out. So, this was how it felt when I kept asking my parents question after question after question.

"Which library are you talking about? We've got just one library in town and it's been out of service since it's owner decided to close it down, about six years ago." She turned to face me, a puzzled look on her face. "So, I'm asking again, which library are you talking about?

"The same library you're talking about. The only one in this town, the one that's been closed up for six years since it's owner decided to close it down. The library just in front of the high school, Jessica. That library."

By now, the car had stopped and Jessica just continued to stare, mouth wide open. What had I said now?

"Are you Enny's niece?"

I sighed. Why did I ever think news of who I was and my arrival in town would be delayed. If I though Regina was bad, then Jessica was worse. "Yes, Jessica. I am Enny's niece."

So... I hope this chapter was okay. I also hope you're not bored of the story 'cause I'm enjoying writing it.

What do you think of Jess? I think she's nice, just really inquisitive. Most children are like that, they ask you questions till you want to shoot them to outer space. Jess isn't a child though, she's a teenager.
