Her red coated lips drew up into a malicious curve, accentuating her white teeth. The redhead standing outside my door had taken her nickname to a whole new level.
She was dressed in a short red gown with a sweetheart neckline, the sleeves snug against her arms and reaching her elbows, the hem of the gown stayed a good two inches above her knees. Her hand held a red clutch, her feet encased in a red, dangerously high heeled shoe. Her red lipstick finished her entire dress up.
"I'm really sorry to have hurt your feelings, Red, but as at then I didn't want anyone to know I'd arrived in town. I needed time to settle down. Once again, I'm really sorry.
"Would you like to come in?" I asked even though I hoped to the ends of the earth she didn't.
"Of course, thanks." She brushed past me and into the kitchen. I closed the door, said a little prayer and followed her into the sitting room.
"You've settled down quite fast, Anne. Impressive." The tone in which she announced said she was clearly not impressed, she'd just said it. She looked round the sitting room once more before graciously sitting on the couch.
"Thanks."
Now, I was tasked with getting her to leave without seeming rude. "I need to check what I have on fire, I'll be back soon," I announced as I made my escape to the safety of the kitchen. I removed the food from the fire and served it into a cooler. Any later and the food would have started burning.
The drinks were fairly chilled and they went into a separate cooler, all twenty seven of them together with a couple of ice blocks.
"Who are those for? Are you throwing a party already?" Regina asked. I looked to the kitchen entrance where she stood, debating whether to lie again or not. I decided not to, she was going to find out sooner or later anyway.
"Not a party. These are headed to the library. Um... Jessica and her friends are helping with cleaning it up." I replied as I gathered plates and cutlery. Once done, I made a show of checking the time. "Oh, would you look at that, I've spent too much time away from the library, they must be hungry already."
Hopefully, she got the message.
"I have a car, I'll help you to the library. You could not possibly carry all these by yourself." She offered.
I'd be stupid to pass up on the offer.
"That'd be great, thanks."___
Red doesn't seem so bad after all. We've all got our flaws as well.
Well, what next?
