So I've been gone for a few weeks, my bad. But hey this chapter is an important one and you'll see why.

Lucca POV

Its been two days since I've stayed at Arlo's home. Today is Alek's birthday and I've already heard the news about how he wasn't able to shift last year due to him being an Omegas and Alphas child. It's common nothing out of normalcy. His over excited self seems to be pretty optimistic about this being the year when he shifts.

Killian suggested we all run together like a pack after the party, if Alek shifts. So if things go well we'll head off and teach Alek to get used to his wolf form. Alex unfortunately has to stay inside since she's not even of age yet. Mason offered to stay with her but she refused and said he should run with his mate.

Going back to Mason being mated to Arlo, well Arlo is taking it harder because he's a police officer who is mated and intimately attracted to a 16 year old teenage boy. You can see as how his thoughts and morals may clash against one another.

Mason is just saddened about the fact that his mate is not fully capable of claiming him. It's every wolves dream to find their mate and live a long happy life with their other half.

As for me, I've never had a mate because dragons don't have mates. We procreate with another dragon we feel attracted to, simply by choice. I've never produced a child, not because I'm unable to but because there's never been another being that I felt emotionally attracted to. I'm not saying I'm a prude because I've had my fare share of people to sleep with but I'm always cautious to not get pregnant or get the others pregnant, I don't want to raise a child in a loveless relationship.

I've been thinking hard about mates for the past two days and Killian just seems to be wary and on guard whenever the word 'mates' is mentioned. It makes me think if he already found his mate, but it's way too early. Then again he did shift early but if he found his mate early, I think I would be the first Killian would've told. Well then again, I wouldn't know since Killian hasn't been openly talking to me like he used to, he's more secretive. He even opted to stay in the living room while we stayed for the remaining days. Something's off, and I want to know whats going on.

Back off Lucca let him be, he did learn how to somewhat live in the modern society. Maybe he's finally acting like a teenager. When he's ready he'll talk to us. Klaus reasoned.

I guess, I just want the old Killian back. The one who shared everything with me. I said.

"Hey hurry up, and help us out. Go to the kitchen and bring in the steaks that have been prepared already" Killian told me, breaking me out of my thoughts.

I did just that and walked to the backyard where I saw Arlo preparing the grill. There was a long bench out back that could fit up to 10 people, and saw it filled with food.

"Here you go" I mentioned as I placed the steaks beside the grill where Arlo was standing.

"Thanks man" Arlo said.

"So you really think Alek will be able to shift this year, I mean there's always next year"

"I don't know, I hope so I don't want to see my son in another depression like last year"
