Chapter 23: Mason

Mason POV

The sound of crash woke me up from my deep sleep. I got out of the bed and checked out the window to see if the sound came from outside. I saw nothing and was on my way back to bed when I saw Killian on his way into the woods. He removed his underwear then shifted into his large black wolf and ran. His size always astounded me. I've never seen a huge wolf like him.

What is he up to? A run?

I didn't give it much of a thought and quickly realized that Lucca was outside by the beginning of the woods, looking ahead but not before he sat down against a tree. I guess he's gonna wait for him to come back.

I still don't understand how Lucca could not obviously see Killian's feelings. It's plain in sight, maybe he's ignoring them and avoiding confrontation.

No. I think he truly doesn't know because the only way Lucca sees Killian is as his pup.

Poor Killian, hopefully his mate won't be Lucca as his future will only be filled with struggles. He's a nice friend that I've come to care for. He's to wise for his age which we only got Lucca to blame for. Though Killian is his own man, he picked up little things from Lucca as he grew up. Last night proved he didn't need Lucca as his protector but someone to protect. We all heard that slap. It echoed throughout the house. Although Killian did deserve it a bit for rashly leaving to kill the other who followed our scent without any help.

Last nights events were hectic but I'm glad I'm not with them anymore and that they are gone. I do feel sorry for Alek, he's more scared than any of us.

We are used to that environment but not him, he's been sheltered since young. Which could only mean Alex will probably have that same reaction.

I stood enough in front of the window and walked back to the bed but not before my room door opened, revealing Arlo.
