CHAPTER NO.16: Surviving Hell

After 1 week

''You can do it. It is your mind that's making you think you are tired, but you are not tired,'' John shouted at us through a mic.

''Just do it!'' he yelled. He was saying it like Shia Labeouf. He was trying to be motivating, but it was like he was pressuring us.

I looked up for a second or two and then continued doing mountain climbers. I turned my head down and kicked my legs forward and backward on the mat. We were doing this workout for the past 20 minutes, but the trainer had no mercy. My skin underneath the workout clothes was burning and sweat was popping from every part of my body. Now, it was proven that the more you weigh, the more you burn. My energy level was down, but my inner self did not want to give up yet. Kylie was on my left side, also struggling with the mountain climbers.

You can do it Anna.

My inner self was trying to make me feel energetic because my body was on the verge of giving up. But I knew that I couldn't give up, because I have made so many promises to myself. I had to do it for my own sake. My health, the bullying, and my low esteem, these were my three main reasons to lose weight. I had to stay strong and keep going. Even though I was quite new to working out and that whole clean-eating, I was still making an effort.

''Okay, we are going to start the last circuit,'' John shouted. ''Stand up and do 10 reps of jump ropes.''

I stood back through my hurting knees, started to jump rope at a slow pace. After that we did squat and press and other strength training. Whenever I got tired, I thought about the promise I made to myself to never give up. So, I didn't stop till the last exercise. After doing all the cool down stretches, I stood up and my legs were jelly.

''Thank God! It is completed. I was going to die.'' Kylie complained while breathing heavily.

''Yeah.'' I was almost lying on the ground. We sat back on the mat, grabbed the water, and drank like we were thirsty for a whole life. I calmed down after a minute, even after the cool down stretches, my body was burning.

''Man this 45 min is like experiencing hell,'' Lauren added. She was looking normal like she was used to it. ''I'm going inside,''

''We are coming,'' Kylie replied as we looked back. We sat up by pushing and supporting each other like paralyzed zombies.

Reaching inside the hallway, we sat on the couch, which was surrounded by many girls, and some were breathless like me. My breathing rate was settling down and my heartbeat was coming back to a normal pace. Sitting on the couch, for a second or two, I closed my eyes to calm myself.

''You are doing great.'' Someone tapped my shoulder. Turning my head, I saw Jennifer standing beside the couch. ''Just focus on your goal and keep going.''

''Thank you,'' I said awkwardly. I was not expecting these words from her.

Saying that, she went into the kitchen. I turned my head to Kylie who had something in her pocket but I didn't know what it was. She was trying to pull it out of her pocket, but before I got to know, Jennifer came back from kitchen.

''C'mon girls, go back in your rooms and change your clothes. You have nutrition class in half an hour,'' Jennifer called out as she clapped her hands twice. ''Kylie, don't just lay around here, and don't you dare eat that chocolate bar.'' She was folding her hands and frowning at Kylie.

All looked at Kylie as she was just going to put that piece of chocolate in her mouth. She peeped at Jennifer. Jennifer just snatched that bar as Kylie's mouth stayed open.Everyone passed a smile filled with dread because they didn't want to get blamed for that. At that time, all girls just flead from there. Kylie looked frustrated and was blabbering something. We entered our room and she sat in the bed with irritated look. I walked to her and sat next next to her.
