Chapter No. 21: Goodbye Old life
When I look back at my life, I see a different person. A person with confidence issues. A person with social anxiety. A person with more weight on her shoulder than she what already weighed. A person who didn't know what to do with her life to have everything good and simple.
I lost my self esteem, my friend, my simple family, and at last, myself. The past months of my life were just a hurtful lesson for me. From my past experiences, I have learned many things. I now knew how to trust the right people. How to make the right friends. How to be a confident person, and most importantly, how to love myself.
''Anna, hurry up,'' Lauren called as she fixed her high ponytail. ''Everyone is already in the activity room.''
Here she stood with the height of 5 feet and 8 inches, weight almost at 150 pounds. She was wearing a black velvet mid thigh dress and high heels, making her more tall. She didn't look anything like the girl I had met before.
She still wore black, but now she started to wear a little makeup. After her opening up, I got an honest friend who understood me well. I connected my deepest thoughts with her, and sometimes, she read my mind quite well.
''I'm coming,'' I replied as I checked out my pink flowy top with blue skinny jeans and my hair to see it was styled in its natural waves. I wore some makeup and black sandals.
Today was our last day at the Slimmer Club, and for our memories, Jennifer arranged a little ceremony for all of us. We were going to take pictures for our before and after. I could say that now I was leaner and healthier than I ever was. I was still plus-sized, which fell between 170 pounds. But I got my health back and some defined muscle.
''Ready?'' Kylie asked as she entered the room wearing her gray dress with dyed unicorn pink hair. I didn't know where she got the dye from, but according to Lauren, she got some packages from her boyfriend Lauren never met.
Fixing my bobby pin, I nodded with a smile and headed to the garden. There were many chairs and tables in the garden. Every tree was decorated with fairy lights. I sat with Lauren and Kylie at one of the tables. All the girls looked different from these past three months. Everyone was wearing beautiful dresses, and it felt like we were at a party. But a party with class and happiness.
As usual, Jennifer walked in with the same confidence and her microphone. She was wearing a perfectly fitted purple dress and her blonde hair was styled into loose curls. She stood in front of all the tables as we all started to look at her.
''Can I have your attention?'' she chimed in her microphone as everyone turned their head towards her.
''You all are looking so pretty in your dresses.'' She looked around at all the girls.
''So, you might be thinking why does this woman always has to announce things and lecture us?'' All the girls smiled slowly.
''As much as I love to talk, this is might be our last talk. I am so proud of you all. You all blossomed into pretty flowers.'' Many of girls' smiles grew.
''When I said I didn't want to turn you into typical skinny girls, I was sure about that. As you can see, no one is unhealthy now, and yet, also not media-skinny . Many of you are still plus size, but in your healthier version.
Media portrays a healthy body in quite a negative way. We see people with unrealistic bodies which seems highly unhealthy. This affects all of the young girls, and they want to achieve that unrealistic body by any way. Whether it is dangerous or not.''
