Everything had mostly been cleared up with tabloids and such.  Arzaylea had tweeted out saying that her words had in fact been twisted.  Everyone had believed her for the most part, except for the few that already hated me for just existing.

Today would be my first proper sit-in with my choir class.  I've been having private lessons with Mrs. Adams up until now.  She would mostly have me do process work, and ask me how my day was going.  We had also discovered an app that made it easier for me to talk.  I would basically just type what I wanted to say in the app, and then an electronic voice would speak the words out loud.

Caleb had apologized very sincerely to me on my way to the bus stop the morning after the incident.  I forgave him, and we've been getting closer now.  Gabby has been avoiding the both of us.  Caleb kept telling me that she'd eventually come around, but something was telling me that it wouldn't be that easy.

As the colder weather was starting to approach, I picked out and outfit that would keep me warm for the day.

(A/N I don't live in Australia, so I don't know when it gets cold and warm.  For the sake of this book, I'm going to pretend that the climate in Australia is like the climate in America.  I'm sorry if this is confusing, it's just easier for me to write this way.)

I picked out a creme colored sweater and dark wash skinny jeans.  When I looked at my hair in the mirror, I realized how faded and ugly it had gotten.  Dying my hair was admittedly not my best decision.  I made a mental note to ask if Bryana could schedule a hair appointment for me.

I laced up some brown combat boots and headed downstairs.  Everybody had slept in this morning, besides me.  This was one of the rare days where nobody had anywhere to be today.  The boys and Bryana all got a day off, which I didn't mind considering I get weekends off.

I grabbed an apple from the bowl in the middle of the table and continued out the door.  Scrolling through twitter as I usually did on my walk to the bus stop, I felt an arm wrap around my shoulder and someone start to keep pace with me.  I looked up to see Caleb with a wide grin that showed off his dimples.

"Good morning!" He chirped.  I couldn't fight the smile that formed on my lips as I shook my head and looked down.  We continued like this until we got to the bus stop, where he happily began to talk about what he had done over the weekend.  I was listening intently until Caleb was rudely interrupted.

"Hey Ella! Why don't you get your blubbering boyfriend to shut his mouth.  I'm sure you of all people could teach him how." John said with a smirk.  I glowered at him and turned away, facing Caleb again.

"Don't talk to her like that.  What has she ever done to you?" Caleb fought back.  The bus had just stopped in front of us, as John grumbled something and climbed on.  Caleb just shook his head as he followed me onto the bus.

When we arrived at school, Caleb and I headed towards my locker.  To our surprise, Gabby was standing at my locker like she used to.  The only thing was, she didn't look very happy to be there.

"Caleb, can I speak to you for a minute?" She whispered harshly as we approached my locker.

"Sure." He said shortly, before following her to an empty corner out of earshot.  I unlocked my locker and began pulling out books for my first few classes.  As I turned to where Gabby and Caleb stood, I noticed the angered expression both of them had plastered on their faces.

Gabby seemed to be yelling at him about something, and he just looked generally pissed off.  I turned back around so it didn't seem like I was staring.  I tidied up my locker a bit and then shut it.  When I turned back around, Caleb was walking towards me, but Gabby had seemingly disappeared into the abyss of students.  Caleb had an angry expression still on his face.

I gave him a questioning look as we continued down the hallway.

"I'll talk to you about it at lunch." He said, as if he could read my thoughts.  I nodded as we walked into our first class.

-----------------------------------

As soon as Caleb and I sat down at lunch, he launched into a explanation about what Gabby had told him this morning.

"Gabby basically said that if I don't stop hanging out with you, I'll become more of an outcast than I already am.  This has happened multiple times before.  She feels like she now has an in with the popular girls and is going to ditch us for a few days before she realizes that they want nothing to do with her."  He said as he glanced over at the table Gabby was sat at.

She was surrounded by popular girls who were all talking to each other, but not to Gabby.  It looked like every time she tried to interject, they cut her off and turned the cold shoulder.  It was kind of weird watching the whole thing happen in front of me.

"It's her way of coping with stuff that she deals with at home.  She never feels like she's good enough, and she has a lot of insecurities.  I just try to brush it off, but it's been getting kind of annoying lately." He added as I turned away.  I nodded in understanding.

The rest of lunch was pretty quiet.  There wasn't much else to say.  Caleb walked me to choir after lunch and hugged me goodbye, saying that he would meet me after school.

I felt very nervous as I pushed open the door to the large choir room.  It seemed like every head turned to me as I entered.  Mrs. Adams smiled at me warmly as she introduced me to the class.

"Everybody," She started, getting the classes attention. "We have a new student joining us today.  Her name is Ella, and I expect nothing but kindness to radiate from this choir, understood?" She said in a stern, but also nice voice.  Everyone nodded or said a polite 'yes'.

"You can sit in that seat next to Diana. Oh, and don't feel pressured to do anything just yet.  That's what the private lessons are for.  You can just lip sync for now." She lowered her voice and said to me.  I nodded and gave her a small smile as I made my way to the seat I was assigned.

The girl she had mentioned, Diana I think, was sitting next to me with a welcoming smile.

"Hi.  My name's Diana.  I think we have English and lunch together." She said brightly.  I nodded, able to recognize her from English, but not really from lunch.

The rest of choir flew by.  I did as I was told, and just lip synced to the music that I was given.  It wasn't very hard.

At the end of the school day, I walked to my locker where Caleb stood waiting for me.  He gave me a smile and threw his arm over my shoulder as we both walked out of the school.
