Nick POV

"FUCK" I said, this couldn't get more outragious. "No ship in the docks... what now?" Judy asked, trying to hide the fact that she was terrified from that. The ships were our last hope of survival from that flood and there were none of hem. "If we are able to swim far from flood we might be able to survive it" Roe suggested, he might as well be right but my question was if we could swim fast enough. "What about Nick?" Judy asked. "He can still swim" Roe said indifferently.

The port was enormous in size, we might as well need hours to get to the other side of it and much more without my leg. The docks stood empty in the distance with some containers lying here and there. The cement ground had not cracked unlike the rest of the city and any building within it's fence was intact. I scanned the area with my eyes, trying to find another escape. There had to be one! "This place is too quiet, I don't like it" Roebuck said and looked around. He wasn't wrong, there was a troubling silence... more than usual.

"Check the guard's office, see if we can use anything" I said and Roebuck followed my order. He opened it's door slowly and entered with his gun raised high. Second passed with the only audible sound being the waves, crashing on the docks. Roe came back outside with a sad look on his face. "Come and see..." He said and signaled us inside, what he had found troubled me. The cameras from the dam were still functional and the pictures from them were bad news.

I walked in with the help of Judy and stopped before going to Roebuck. The room wasn't too big, just enough for two large mammals to fit it. A desk stood in the middle of it with three monitors on it and a black board behind the desk. Everything was a mess with papers lying all around the floor. On the chair sat the gate guard... with a bullet in his head. There was a gun in his paw and blood on his white shirt. He had killed himself before they got to him, it needs a lot of courage to do this. "We're dead there is no point in even swimming..." Finnick said when he took a look at the screen.

"The dam has only five minutes of life! We're screwed" Roebuck said and showed us a second monitor which indicated the dam's integrity... it was 1%. "Get me outside" I said to Judy and she turned around. We went out of the building and stopped right outside the door. "We won't have to swim... What about these" I said and pointed at the containers with my nose since both of my paws were occupied. "What about those?" Finnick asked, his shame hadn't passed yet. "They are made to withstand tons of force. We can get in them and wait for the flood to stop" I explained, yeah I am a genius alright.

"He's got a point. We can strap them down with these steel ropes" Judy suggested. This plan was going perfectly but we had to work faster on it. "I have my doubts" Jasmine said. "But you have no other choice" Roebuck replied and walked slowly toward the steel containers. "I know that this is getting kinda cliche but.... GUYS!!" Judy said and all of a sudden she picked my up bride-style and started running furiously. "HOLY SHIT! RUN" Finnick's voice was added to the screams.

I turned my head to see what we were running from. Savages were now chasing us.... again. "What woke these guys up?" I asked. Poor Judy was carrying someone double her size. "No fucking idea!" Roe shouted and jumped in the first container he found in our way. Jasmine was the second one to enter while Finnick was right behind us when we got inside.

"Put me down, thanks" I said and Judy thankfully did as I said, she was exhausted. "Finnick what are you doing?" Jasmine asked when she saw her uncle stop running. He pulled out his guns and went full guns blazing on the savages. "Buying you time" He said and hit a puma with the back of his gun. A deafening noise was heard and the dam broke in pieces. We couldn't see it but the rumble made from the force of the water which knocked down everything in it's path was something that made my bones shake. "Finnick get inside!" I shouted and crawled to the entrance of the container, I was not gonna leave him behind.

"Lock the doors Roe!" Finnick shouted back, what was he doing? Roe walked past me, grabbed the first part of the door and locked it down. "WAIT FOR HIM!" I Screamed and crawled forward, trying to stop Roebuck from closing the second part of the steel door. "Yo Nick!" Finnick said with his back turned to me. There were far too many savages for him to handle and the flood was already visible. "Finnick don't do this!" I said and fell on the ground... I couldn't move any more. "I HAVE TO CLOSE IT NOW!!" Roebuck said and started dragging the door. Just before it was completely shut I heard Finnick's last words: "Good luck working with the Fuzz".

"FINNICK!" I screamed, Roebuck shut the door and the flood hit us. "HOLD ON!" Jasmine shouted as the container started spinning around, dragging me left and right. All of my wounds were opening again. Everyone was screaming either from pain or terror. I hit my head on the wall of the container and everything went black.

                                                                                      --~~--

The mild sound of waves hitting the exterior of... I couldn't remember what it was! I woke up, desperately trying to remember what had happened. After a second I remembered everything. The flood, the port... Finnick. We were still inside the container which thankfully hadn't cracked. Judy was lying besides me with two large bruises on her back and scratches on her paws. "Roe?" I asked but words could barely come out of my mouth, I must have hit my head too hard. "I'm here... we alive?" He asked and tried to stand up but he couldn't, his feet couldn't keep him up.

"I think so. How's Jasmine?" I asked and looked around for her but she was nowhere to be found. "I don't know, she must have woken up already" He answered and now tried standing up by using his paws as well. "Let's see if we can get out of here" I said and crawled towards Roebuck who was about a feet away from me. "We're standing on the door... I'll crack it" He said and grabbed his gun which was intact. He shot the door and it the lock broke. I kicked it open and crawled outside. It turned out that the container had fallen like a pole on the ground where we landed.

"That is a whole lot of water" Roebuck said when he got out. There was barely any land visible, just little island popping out of the water. "Nick these are rooftops" Roe said when he took a look at the ground we were standing... he was right. "At least the water didn't make it all the way to the skyscrapers" I said and looked up.

"We gotta find Jasmine though, can't leave without her" Roebuck said and looked around. "I  think that won't be possible..." I said and looked down, one more lost. Her chest was pierced by an antenna of the rooftop we were on. Her body was hanging dead with blood having dried on her fur. "Poor girl... she didn't have to go like that" Roebuck said in sorrow when he saw her. "None of them had" I said and went back inside to find Judy.

This was the end of it. I would not let anyone else die on my watch! I have had enough of Life's stupid game. Two of my friends had died because of my reckless actions and my bad decisions...

"I know what you're thinking... don't be so hard on yourself" Roebuck told me, how could I not be. "Get Jasmine's body down, I don't want Judy to see her" I said and he left me alone. Judy was unconscious but still alive, I wouldn't have any reason to live if she had died as well. "Nick... what happened?" She whispered. "We're alive" I said and pet her head. "Are the others alive?" She asked. How was I supposed to answer such a question? I didn't have the courage to see her cry.

"Yes, we're all fine. Don't get up yet... try to rest for a while" I said and stood up. "There was no way you could predict that Nick, don't put it on yourself" Roebuck said when he came back. "Did you bury her?" I asked and he nodded, "With whatever I could find... but it is a nice one" He said.

"What do we do now captain?" He asked and we both gazed at the sea in front of us. "I would be a captain if I had a ship... and a crew" I said, even referring to them was painful. People with whom I had spent my whole life with were now gone. "I think you might have the first one" Roe said and pointed a large figure in the distance... it was a ship.

"Well they came on time!" I said furiously and went to wake up Judy.
