"We're falling behind y/n. No one knows of Valhalla's cliff anymore. We don't have enough gold. Other islands have dragons too. I know we're low on space but we could make do with a few more trained dragons."

Y/n stared at him silently, questioning what he wanted her to do, what he wanted her to say. The fire flickered in the fireplace behind the large man. It's soft light illuminated the table and made the axes and shields' shine. D/n could be heard turning in her stable next to the house.

"You'd do anything for the Cliff, y/n?"

"Of course chief," She answered. Her loyalty was a virtue to her bloodline. The chief has said it would've made her mother proud.

"Last year, I heard of Berk. That's when the chief's son, he's your age-"

You cut him off, "Da-" Y/n corrected herself, "Chief. You promised to never force me into marriage."

Irritation crossed his face quickly, "Let me finish." His huge hand wiped down his face pulling the skin and hair from his h/c beard and eyebrows, "You don't have to marry him. You don't even have to like him. Just pretend you do. Everyone thinks you're a lovely girl, so keep your eye on him and earn his trust; then I'll send Aki Vigisson, you follow his act and eventually he will bring you back here with the book and gold."

Aki, Aki Vigisson, of course; he was your age and extremely handsome. His common viking mohawk, usually braided back, he has unusually dark hair. Dark freckles covered his straight nose and his eyes were a golden green.

"Okay?" Your father asked looking at your dream glazed face.

"I'll do it." Y/n's body jolted up and my hands slammed onto the wooden table that separated her and the chief, "When do I go?"

"You can take d/n as soon as you are ready to go, she is our only trained dragon, and even better I've learned that the chief's boy has a nightfury himself. She'll make him trust you more."
Y/n watched him take out a map of Berk and roll it out over the table.

"You'll fly in from the back here," his hand moved across the map to a forested part of the island, his finger pressed there, "There are caverns all over the cliff edges and a cove somewhere over here," his hand moved again. You took mental notes on where you needed to go. He rolled the map in his huge, rough hands. Sliding the end towards you, "Are you ready y/n?"

"Completely."

Y/n walked up to her room and laid the map out on her desk; Y/n marked her flight path and where she wanted to land.  She calculated the distance and how long it would take her to get to the island. On dragon back, about twelve hours. She would need to leave at two the next day in order to make it to berk in the middle of the night.

D/n would help gain a bit more of the island's trust. She's a Nightfury, like the chief's son's. He thinks he has the only one but he is mistaken. She'll be a great asset to the plan, plus she's beautiful and fast, and could  protect you from just about anything that could get in my way.

At two the next day, just as planned,  I hugged my father goodbye and shook Aki's hand.

"I'll see you later," he whispered into my ear giving me chills. Your face burned and you looked down running a hand through your hair.

"Bye Chief, Bye Aki." Your leg swung over d/n's saddle and she rumbled at you, ready to go, Y/n patted her neck twice telling her take off.

The trip was long, they passed over a lot of islands and water, Y/n followed the map and a compass that the chief had given her to get to Berk. Halfway through her trip it got dark, that's how she knew she was between Valhalla's Cliff and Berk. After a few more hours in the air they reached Berk. Both of them exhausted. Y/n pulled D/n into a loop around Berk's perimeter. They landed in a wooded area; Y/n slipped off of d/n. They walked through the dark woods of the unfamiliar island, looking for anywhere, anywhere at all to lay down and slip into a sleep. Y/n was so tired after a day of flying and planning the night before. She was positive that d/n was just as tired having flown for twelve hours.

They stopped in front of a particularly dark section and looked off into it. Y/n's next footstep sent her over the edge and had her sliding down a dusty slope of black. Eventually the ground evened out and Y/n's body came to a stop. It was so dark she wasn't sure if her eyes were open or closed but she heard d/n hiss in panic to find her, eventually she heard her land by her feet. Y/n's eyes had been open but they closed and eventually she drifted into a sleep in a pile of the furs around her shoulders and the dirt in her hair and covering her back and sides. The black enclosed her, the last thing she remember before a deep sleep was a scaly blanket wrapping all the way around her body, covering her from elements and keeping you warm in Berk's cold air.
