To call a sunset on Berk, or above Berk, beautiful would be a horrible understatement. The way the colors twist around the clouds is enough to make you dizzy. The cool air and wet clouds wakes you up like nothing you've ever felt before. You closed your eyes and felt D/n move under you. Her wings quiver in the air, a few large round motions every once and awhile to keep her gliding through the air. Before Hiccup and Toothless this was the only kind of flying you knew how to do. These calm or long distance type flights. This thought reminded you of your quest, you'd almost completely forgotten that you were supposed to send d/n back to Valhalla's Cliff when you had the book and then Aki would come and get you from Berk once she'd arrived. How were you supposed to take The Book of Dragons from Berk, from Hiccup. The sky darkened to a royal blue. You urged d/n towards the ground, she landed gracefully next to the chief's house. D/n bowled at you as to slid off her side and dug the candles out of the saddlebag. You opened the front door slowly, it groaned at you.
"Hello, Hiccup? Are you home?" No reply. You smiled to yourself, "Help me clean up will you girl?"
D/n grumbled and started picking up things from the floor and putting them where she thought they ought to be. You cleared the table. Up in the top cabinet you found the woven cloth for the table and, with quite a bit of effort, managed to pull it down and spread it across the table. Y/n figured if Hiccup was going to make dinner, then you should set the table. You laid a few plates down and set up the red candles to burn, obviously not lighting them yet since you didn't know how long it would be before Hiccup came. Though you hoped he'd e along soon, you were getting hungry. Y/n took some bread from the counter and started cutting. Creak, the front door opened for Hiccup, "Darn, You're already here. I had to get stuff for dinner and make sure my dad wasn't gonna come home while we were eating. I saw you and D/n flying and hoped I'd get here before you so I could set everything up. I guess I'm a bit late."
"It's okay. I've already set the table." You gestured to the table, completely set with plates and goblets, and the candles from Bucket.
"It looks great, but we're gonna ." He smiled setting the bags he had down in the kitchen and smiling at you. You grinned back.
Quickly he grabbed the knife you were using to cut the bread out of your hand and whined, "Stop."
"Stop what?"
"Stop preparing food."
"I'm cutting bread!" You laughed.
"Don't care. Go sit down."
You laughed again and walked to sit down at the table, within the minute Hiccup laid the basket of bread down in the middle of the table. You took a piece, ripped a piece off and ate it. Hiccup moved back into the kitchen and started cooking. You watched him work like you do every day in Gobber's shop. He put a pot of water over the fire and started cutting vegetables and chicken. He pulled down spices and much like his work in the shop you couldn't keep up. In about 20 minutes the house was filled with an amazing smell and Hiccup was pulling down bowls. He filled them with his stew and brought them over to the table.
"Am I allowed to light the candles?" You asked jokingly.
"Don't start, I just wanted to make you dinner without doing anything."
You smiled and lit the two red candles. Both you and Hiccup ate. His stew was delightful, "This is really good, Hiccup."
"Thanks." He blushed at the compliment and continued eating.
"Where'd you these candles from anyway?" He asked when you'd both finished.
"Bucket." You answered. He smiled at you, "What?"
"You've found your home."
Y/n blushed and tried her best to not look Hiccup in the eye. How was she supposed to take the book? How could she, now?
"Y/n?" You looked up at him.
"Yeah."
"Nevermind."
You stood and grabbed the your bowl, Hiccup copied your actions. The plates rested in the wash tub. Y/n yawned, "Dinner was lovely, Hiccup."
"Thank you, milady."
You smiled at the boy washing dishes, "Want help?"
"No. I'll be fine."
You sat next to him as he scrubbed the plates and placed them on the cloth next to the tub. Soon, your eyes began to slip closed. Your head fell down onto Hiccup's shoulder. He didn't mind and continued washing the dishes. When Stoick came in Hiccup had already finished washing the dishes but had decided not to wake you. Hiccup put a finger to his lip to quiet his father. Stoick smiled at the young girl resting on his son's shoulder.
"Why don't you wake her up and take her to bed." Stoick suggested. Hiccup nodded and jostled you slightly. Y/n's eyes opened slowly. He smiled at her, she grinned back and put her arm over his shoulder. They walked together up the stairs and into Y/n's room. Hiccup almost fell trying to get her back towards the bed. Both of her arms were now around his neck.
"You've made this complicated," Hiccup mumbled. Y/n's eyes opened slightly, her eyelids still heavy.
"You're the one making things complicated," Y/n was referring to quite a few things, one of which was him stopping her from finishing her task.
"How am I the one making things comp-" Y/n pulled herself closer to Hiccup. The room was pretty dark and she hoped she wouldn't miss. Y/n could feel his breath on her nose. She took the chance and lifted her chin to make their lips touch. She kissed him twice, but he was too stunned to kiss back.
"Sorry. That was stupid."
"Don't." He pushed his lips back onto hers, and rolled onto the bed next to you, smiling into the kiss.
That morning Hiccup opened his eyes to your face. He remembered the night and smiled. He laid a small kiss on your forehead, and started down stairs to take Toothless for a morning flight. Toothless bowled, Hiccup smiled at him.
"I think she's amazing." Toothless 'smiled' and Hiccup mounted him for their flight.
Around 10 o'clock y/n landed next to Gobber's shop, "Hey." She smiled. Hiccup turned around, "Hi, milady."
"I really enjoyed last night."
"Great, I'm glad you liked my dinner," Hiccup blushed.
"I didn't just like dinner, ya' know." He blushed harder, and turned to his work so he could hide it. Y/n hugged his back and looked over his shoulder to see what he was doing. The plans looked like dragon wings with scribbles and notes.
"Y/n?"
You spun around quickly. Stoick stood next to a boy with golden green eyes and freckles covering his face. Hiccup turned after you hadn't responded.
"Y/n it's been so long." He smiled at you. Your mouth hung open slightly. Hiccup put his arm around you.
"Aki?" you whispered, truly surprised, you hadn't sent d/n for him. Why was he here? You weren't ready you didn't want to steal from Hiccup and Berk, from your home.
"You remember me Y/n..." Aki said sweetly, he took a few steps towards you, "You're still so beautiful."
You felt Hiccup pull you a little closer, hold you a little tighter, making sure you wouldn't leave. Aki's plan was awful, he should have acted like a lost sibling, reunited again. Ready to take you home to your awaiting family. But It didn't really matter, It's all going to end in heartbreak anyway.
