Vibrations and a low deep growl woke Y/n. She opened her eyes but she was still surrounded in black, it moved and growled. It held you and your warmth. Then you remembered the night before: D/n had wrapped around you. Why was she growling? What was out there? What time is it?

You heard the crunching of twigs and leaves, her growl grew with the sound. D/n's heart beat a normal pace, she wasn't worried, the dragon could take on whatever was approaching. Then again d/n could be quite unreasonable. Y/n looked down at her feet and saw the glowing end of her wing tunnel. As soon as she started to scoot out d/n stopped growling and made a quick peep, then her wing lifted off of y/n and the bright green light of the lightly forested area blinded you. A person gasped and d/n started to growl again. You moved your arm up to shield your eyes from the sunlight; squinting your e/c eyes and focusing on who was in front of you.
A teenage boy not much older than you was standing in front of d/n a practically identical Nightfury stood behind him.
This is the chief's son! Shocked to have been found by him in the middle of the woods, y/n's eyes widen slightly.
"Hello," he smiles at me showing slightly crooked teeth.
"Hello."
"Can you call her off?"
"Why would I do that?" I walked up next to her and stroked her shoulder. He seemed to be caught a little off guard by your untrustworthy attitude but managed to put himself together, "Right, why would you, you don't even know my name. Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third." He stuck his hand out and d/n snapped at it.
"Down," You spoke to d/n without breaking eye contact with Hiccup, "Y/n."
He stuck his hand out again, he'd pulled it back when d/n had snapped at him. After a few seconds of me leaving him hanging he shook the air slightly.
When I ignored his gesture he sighed a little and dropped it.
"Is he yours?"
"She. Yeah."
"Oh! Sorry," he grinned at d/n, "my bad, this is my dragon Toothless. We thought he was the last of his kind. But she's beautiful."
D/n purred a little bit making the boy's lips turn up, y/n's lips turned up a bit without thinking about it but went back to straight when he looked up from d/n to her.
"Her name is d/n."
"Lovely name."
She gurgled at him;basking in his complements. Toothless who was staying back crawled up to the larger dragon. She moved her nose and smelled Toothless's nose. He cooed at her and she growled for him to move back. He obliged quickly. Hiccup chuckled at Toothless, "Don't worry bud. You'll be able to talk to her later. Probably..."
He looked back up at you and said something; you hadn't been paying attention to him.
"Huh?"
"You're going to stay, right?"
"I can, I guess."
His lips turned up again, "Good. I was hoping you would."
Y/n crossed her brows and smiled a bit. What was this boy's game, he had this odd, sweet charm about him. His freckled cheeks blushed at my face.
"Follow us?"
"Sure."
He smiled and swung over Toothless, he oddly enough was wired and wore a saddle, a single tail fin was fake. Y/n mounted d/n and followed Toothless into the sky. The air, cold and crisp, hit her face as they swung around the coast of the island before Toothless and Hiccup landed by a large cottage on the side of the island.

"Here we are!" He dismounted, "home."
You slipped off of d/n silently and patted her, whispering reassurance to her, "You're safe. Stay with him."

Toothless sat and stared at you and d/n.
"Take care of her bud!" Hiccup called from the doorway. You stroked her one more time and scampered up to the door.
"Dad!" Hiccup called out as they entered the house, "I have something to tell you."
"Oh really? Does it have something to do with the fact that your home before dark?" a loud accented voice asked. You kept quiet.

"Well?"

"You actually might want to see this one..."
The floorboards squeaked as the huge man came out from where ever he was before. My chin raised to look him in the eyes as he stood in front of me. He had a Large red beard that covered a large portion of his face and ended just above his elbows. You couldn't see how Hiccup, a small skinny boy, had come from this huge bearded man.
"Who's this?" He asked flatly.
"She's the reason I'm home early," Hiccup continued, half jokingly, "I found her in the cove. Actually I found her dragon in the cove, a nightfury dad, a female."
Hiccup's father's eyes widened and looked from hiccup to you and back to hiccup.
"She was sleeping in the dragon's wings I didn't see her until she came out."

You blushed slightly, was sleeping in a dragon's wings not normal?

"And you want her to stay here?"

"Yeah."

He sighed, "If I say no you'll sneak her around behind my back won't you?"

"Probably."

"Okay she can stay, for now at least."
Hiccup lead you upstairs.

"You can sleep here." Hiccup gestured to a closed door. You opened the door to a mostly untouched room with a nursery theme vaguely shown on the worn walls.   Pastel paintings of the gods stained into the light wooden walls. Some shelving units had small stuffed animals and trinkets left to collect dust. A small bed was in the opposite corner, covered in the common fur blankets, left so long the pelts all looked grey.

"Sorry about the dust," Hiccup apologized, "the room hasn't been used in a long time." You nodded.

"And I'll get you a cloth so you can clean the dirt off," He turned to the door, "Seems as though you had quite a fall."

You winced and flushed in embarrassment as he exited. The fur blankets really hadn't been touched, you picked them up and beat it with your hand sending a flurry of dust up into the warm air of day. Hiccup came back into the room with a damp cloth and a pile of folded clothes.

"Here." He sat them down on a chair by the door, "Come down stairs when you're done."

"Okay."

Hiccup left the room, shutting the door behind him. You took off your soiled clothes and wiped down your dusty, bruised body. The clothes that laid on the bed were obviously cut for a male. Nevertheless, you ignored the strange cut and slipped the clothes on, thankful to get the itchy dirt off your skin. The black pants hung a little low and bunched at the ground. You left the room holding them up with the loose green sleeves, also a bit too long for your body they covered your hands.

"How does everythi-" Hiccup turned around and saw you drowning in his clothing, "I guess it doesn't fit too well. I'll bring you by Astrid's tomorrow. I'm sure her clothes will fit you better."

"Who?"

"She's a dragon rider- Don't worry you'll get to know them all soon enough."

"Oh."
