Christmas shopping that year was wonderful, Christmas was beautiful and new year's was incredible.

Let's start with Christmas shopping.

We got up and showered and dressed and went out for breakfast. We ate pancakes in a cute little coffee shop just outside of town. It was a frosty morning and the wind was cool but refreshing and the sun was shinning in an attempt to warm the world (except it was failing pretty badly). We were in our warmest jackets and our woolly beanies and scarves and gloves and the warmth and cosiness of the coffee shop was gorgeous.

People chatted quietly and Ed Sheeran - Cold Coffee was playing in the background as we ordered our pancakes (strawberries ad cream for me; chocolate for Michael) and hot chocolate.

We sat on the sofa right by the window and played one of our favourite people-watching games; Life Stories. (Basically, as people walk past you have to decide what their name is, where they are going and why and things like age, favourite colour, favourite artist, and it can be as ridiculous as you like.) We ate our pancakes and drank our drinks between answers and questions and bursts of laughter. The weak sun shone in Michael's eyes and on his face as he laughed and I had one of those moments where I just wondered at his beauty. He turned away from the window and caught me staring at him.

"What?" he asked. I couldn't resist. I leaned towards him on the sofa and kissed his chocolaty lips. He smiled as I brought myself away and he just sat staring at me, the love on his face highlighted by the cool morning sun.

"These pancakes aren't gonna eat themselves. I'll race ya." I smiled and he turned to his pancakes.

"3...2...1...go!" he laughed and we chewed and swallowed as quickly as possible.

Michael won.

"What's my prize?"

"The satisfaction of being declared the winner."

"How about a kiss?"

"No need to ask me twice."

His chocolate and my strawberry lips locked and we parted before it became too intense for public viewing. We snuggled together on the sofa, people-watching as we finished our hot chocolates. I remember that, as we did, Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop by Landon Pigg was playing in the background and it was perfect.

We left in our jackets and hats and scarves and re-entered the cold outside air.

Shopping was relaxed and fun and we spent a lot of time messing about; running and hiding from each other and trying on ugly hats and things and laughing at how silly we looked; much like a pair of little kids. I managed to get things for all my family and friends and helped Michael do the same.

It was such a fun and successful shopping trip and I even managed to get Michael's presents without him noticing.

Turns out; he did too.
