The train journey was unbearable and the flight even worse. By the time I reached the airport in London I was drained. Two hours of a child constantly kicking your seat is a lot to take when you haven't had that much sleep.
I was glad to be standing in the aisle waiting to leave the plane.
Backpack in my arms I let the London wind whip my hair as I made my way down the steps and towards the airport building.
The air was chilly and I was glad I'd put on my hoodie (a bright yellow minion hoodie from Despicable Me, an excellent birthday present from Michael a couple of months ago).
I walked into the building and went to baggage claim where I tugged my large bag from the carousel as it made its way around.
Dodging through large crowds I wove my way to the doors that opened to the car park to find the boys and my little angel.
The first thing I spotted was a blue and pink stripy beanie bobbing through the crowds. Filled with a sudden burst of energy I pushed my way towards it and a few seconds later was hit at a run by a blue Mickey Mouse vest as Michael threw himself onto me and I was enveloped in his familiar smell. His muscular arms wrapped around me and I nuzzled my head into his chest. He squeezed harder as he said
"I missed you so much, babe."
I looked up at him, still held in his embrace, and replied
"I missed you too, sunshine."
He smiled as he planted a soft, sweet kiss on my lips and filled me with butterflies and warmth. Michael pulled away and we parted so that we were now side-by-side instead of woven together as one.
"Hi Claire!" Sounded a familiar Welsh accent as Dan caught up to us, slightly out of breath.
"Dan! Hi! I missed you!" He hugged me and I saw Aiden and George walk towards us, finally spotting where Michael and then Dan had run.
Dan and I parted and I ran towards Aiden, embracing him tightly and telling him I missed him.
"Hi George!" I said as I parted with Aiden.
Before he had a chance to reply, Michael came and grabbed my hand, dragging me away from them.
"Michael!" I exclaimed, laughing slightly. "Michael stop! I left my bag over there!" I laughed as he pulled me at a half-run towards the exit. He stole a quick glance over his shoulder.
"It's alright. George's got it." He said and carried on pulling me through the crowds at a quickening pace. The biggest smile decorated the boy's face and eyes and I was so glad to be back with the boys I loved most.
As we reached the automatic doors and Michael pulled me out, the small amount of sunshine brightened his face and lightened his eyes. It caressed his skin and kissed his bare shoulders. He was beautiful.
I caught my breath as he pulled me close, wrapping his arms around my waist and putting his lips to mine.
The kiss was deep and warm and long and played on my mind for so long afterwards. As the sun gently warmed us and the wind caressed the small world we created between us, I felt we were the only two in the world and we were invincible.
