Hurt part 2

(Natsu's POV)

     I watched Lucy walk slowly to her usual seat in front of Mira, it's been at least a week since her lazy butt has come to the guild. I can't believe she waits so long to see her family. I can't remember the last time she's even spoke to me. She looks kind of pathetic actually. I wonder if she is sick. My ears perked at hearing Mira and Lucy having a conversation. She hardly talks these days, it's nice to hear her talking to someone.

     "Alright Mira, you're a great cook so I already know it's going to taste perfect." She picked up her spoon and shakily took a big bite.

     I could see the agony on her face, with every bite she took. It was as if someone was hitting her every time she swallowed. Lucy why won't you let anyone in? I questioned to myself. Suddenly she stood up and walked over to the job request board, I started to eat the bowl of food that was sitting in front of me, so that I could watch her without her noticing me. Hey what do you know, I guess Mira's cooking was all Lucy needed. I smiled to myself, looks like Lucy's gonna do a job finally. My ears twitched again.

     Oh well that's just lovely, are Natsu and Happy going to join you as well?" she said I could hear the hope clinging to her voice. I got excited, Awesome I haven't been on a job with Luce in forever!

     Lucy turned my way, I was about to set my bowl down and wave when I heard her voice tighten.

     "No, I'm Going alone." She said firmly. She turned back around to Mira continuing, "It's not a hard job, and besides Natsu's pretty busy" she grabbed the job request and headed towards the door without looking my way again. I could feel the disappointment fill my face. I'm not busy, why wouldn't she even ask if I was busy? I thought we were friends? Why won't she go on jobs with me or anyone? I know, I'll just show her I'm not busy.

I ran over to her stopping directly in front of her and grabbed the job request out of her hands.

     "Finally going on a job I see" I smiled trying to coax a smile onto her face "You've been real lazy the past few months, I bet that landlady of yours is on your back something fierce, so where are we going" I smiled warmly at her.

     "This job is no big deal, so I'm just going to go alone." Lucy said coldly as she grabbed the job request back and continued past me as if I wasn't actually there. Lucy, your eyes are so empty. I couldn't sense any emotion from them at all. Lucy... a familiar smell suddenly hit me, I turned around towards Mira and caught a glimpse of Loke speaking quietly to her. Why are they being so quiet? I focus on their conversation.

     "I'm a valiant knight I exist only to serve and protect her in any way, as if I would let any harm come to my princess." He adjusted his glasses and disappeared. I looked toward the guild doors and Lucy had already vanished, so I walked over to the bar and sat in her chair, her sweet scent was still lingering in the air it's familiarity lulling me to sleep. "Mmmm strawberries" I heard myself say just before everything went black.

     Mira walked over to Natsu and pat him softly on the head. "Natsu, you don't even know, do you?" she sighed.
