Broken {Completed}

Memories

     "There is a spell in here that I think might work, but it is risky and requires a great deal of magic and concentration." Levy paused and took in a deep sharp breath. "We can extract her memories from her heart, it should contain her last thoughts before she..." her voice trailed off. "There's a chance however that whatever memories are there will be erased along with any memory of the people and places in those memories. This spell also creates a sensory link with everyone who falls in its light, so we will feel any happiness or pain that Lucy felt."

     "Juvia thinks it's a risk worth taking if we get our Lucy back." She said timidly
     Master nodded at Natsu then spoke firmly "Natsu if you would, please lay her heart here" Natsu slipped his scarf off and set her heart and it in the middle of the table. "All S-Class wizards step forward now." He commanded. He walked over to Levy and read what the spell entailed. "I want you all to pour every ounce of magic that you can into this spell with me." They all nodded and began to concentrate. "Piercing Heart." Master yelled as he released an enormous amount of energy.

     Lucy's heart slowly began to glow as it was lifted off the table. Then everyone could hear her voice, as if her thoughts and memories were projecting directly into their minds.

      Hmm I guess I've been wondering through this forest for quite some time, I should probably take this Tigress Eye jewel to the customer. This is only supposed to take a day, the client is probably going to be furious with me if I don't get backup to them soon, not to mention how furious Mira is going to be when she finds out this job was only a one day job. I just need some time to myself though. I think I'll just sit down and take break before going back.

    I wonder what everyone at the guild is doing right now, *sigh, I really do miss my family. Everyone could see Lucy's memories dancing through their minds as if they had been there watching and experiencing the events with her, and it made them all feel even worse especially since she felt happiness and warmth when talking about them. I'm sure they're smiling, Fairy Tail is always smiling and brimming with warmth, They could feel Lucy's heart wince at the word warmth. Suddenly her memories of the guild members all smiling and rough housing around the guild faded into her memory of Lisanna confessing her feelings to Natsu and the kiss they shared, it seemed deep and passionate and when they finished a small smile crossed Natsu's face. The guild members grasped at their chests and began to feel all feel the agony in her heart as she slowly walked away. I'm really glad Lisanna is back, everyone is so much happier and livelier. She's so quiet and sweet, I'm glad I got to meet her. Lucy's memory started to fade black the feeling of pure exhaustion consumed everyone as they felt Lucy give up her fight to live just when everyone thought it was over a small glint of happiness flickered in their hearts the only thing anyone could see was the end of Natsu's scarf as if he had slowly walked past them. Then a look of horror and sadness filled their faces as they felt the last beat of Lucy's heart.

     Lucy's heart stopped glowing and dropped back onto Natsu's scarf as the S-Class wizards were tossed back by a sudden burst of magic. Natsu slowly walked over and picked her heart back up and grasped it tightly in  his hands. The rest of the guild was glancing at his scarf, thinking of the little bit of comfort that remembering it gave Lucy in death.

     "So even in the end, even though we abandoned her she still considered us family?" Mira said in a sweet hushed voice on the brink of tears.

     "That's Lucy for you" Happy cried.

     Levy looked at Natsu. "Natsu" everyone looked at him now. "I know what you're thinking and it's not your fault."
    "How do I fix this." He replied sternly
    "Natsu you can't do it just out of guilt, the spell requires unwavering love." Levy responded.
    "I'm aware of what it requires, now answer my question." He growled
     "Natsu you could kill-" she started
     Natsu turned to Levy and growled, then stopped and took in a deep breath before speaking. "I know what everyone thinks about me, and I'm sure they're right. I'm impulsive, impatient, quick tempered and a lot of things just don't make sense to me." Every member of the guild was dumbfounded by Natsu's self awareness. He just looked deep into Levy's eyes and continued to speak, Lucy's heart still clutched tightly in his hand. "But I know what love is, I know the warmth it brings as it takes over your body." He paused and looked down at the spell that that the master and the S-class wizards had just performed. He placed his hand over his heart "If you won't believe me then I'll show you." And before anyone could stop him "Piercing heart!"
