Nervous wasn't generally in my vocabulary but today involved a meeting with Jeanine and I was nervous, it also didn't help that I was hungover from the night before. Eric gave my hand a quick squeeze before entering the conference room, I followed behind him masking my nervousness with a sweet smile and sitting next to him at the table. All eyes were on me. At the head of the table sat Jeanine she stared at me with a hard gaze before she spoke.
"So, Ritza, I hear you practically annihilated the training, you'll make a good soldier." I didn't particularly like the way she spoke, it was very condescending and I had clearly earned your place here. Instantly my smile was replaced with resting bitch face.
"So we have three days before the cleanse, all Divergents will be eradicated." Jeanine sounded like an extremist as she babbled on about taking out the enemy. The supposed tracking devices that had been injected into the new dauntless were actually in fact a method of forcing conformity. As much as I thought the methods were far fetched the ends justify the means. I was prepared to eliminate the murderers of my parents.
After the meeting Jeanine stopped Eric and I waited just ahead covertly eavsdropping.
"She's your responsibility, she screws up you're both on the line." She was saying and walked off.

Eric walked up to me linked hands as we walked back to his apartment.
"Well that was certainly interesting." I commented.
"She's a bit extreme but she'll get the job done and after the things Divergents have done they deserve it." I nodded in agreement as I followed him through the door.
"Compound security will certainly be fun." he commented.
"Oh yeah?" I sat in the kitchen as he began cooking.
"Well I've heard stories about the fights, they get pretty hectic it's not safe." He didn't look at you.
"I'll be fine, I start tomorrow I'll show you." I brushed it off, he shook his head.
"Aww, is Eric getting scared." I teased and he turned to me a frown on his face, he stalked up to me and I could see the lust in his eyes. He lifted my chin and kissed me, it was a desperate kiss but I wanted it and deepened the kiss by wrapping my legs around his torso. He carried me to the bedroom as our tongues battled for dominance. All my thoughts right now were on Eric and how much I wanted him. He laid me down on the bed and climbed on top. Hands were everywhere and as pieces of clothes starting disappearing and he paused.
"Are you sure?" I nodded and it was a spectacular night.

I woke up peacefully the next morning, wrapped in Eric's arms. Gently moving him ai got out of bed picked up my clothes  and headed for the shower. I let the hot water wash away all the stress from initiation. Today was my fist day of compound security and I was feeling energised. Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better Eric had made pancakes for breakfast. I practically skipped to work.
After a quick orientation I was patrolling the compound, it seemed easy enough, I patrolled with a man whose name escaped me, though I chatted mindlessly I was content with my choices. That was untill the comments began, sure it was unusual a girl in a high ranking job, hut the harassment was so uncalled for. If only they knew I were dating Eric.
"See ya later sweet cheeks." One of the guys yelled as I left work that night and I hatched a plan.

"Hey Eric!" I yelled barging into his apartment, he smiled as I hugged him and took off my shoes.
"So..." I started.
"What?" He asked.
"I didn't die." I smirked and poured myself a glass of water. He grumbled something incoherently.
"What was that?"
"Nothing."
"That's what I thought." I nodded to myself.
"Hey, would you walk me to work tomorrow morning?" I asked trying not to raise any suspicion. If he knew what the guys were saying today we'd end up with a bunch of broken bodies and we didn't need that right now. Not with the "cleanse" coming up. I was just as excited as I was nervous in regards to the elimination on divergents, it was time for my revenge.
"Ritza." Eric waving his hand in front of my face shook me out of my thoughts.
"Can we have a serious discussion?" He asked.
"Aren't they all serious?" I joked and he gave me a stern look, putting my hands up in mock defeat I agreed.
"It's one thing I haven't been able to work out, if you're an Amity, why were you so damn good at being Dauntless?" I froze instantly, this wasn't something I ever wanted to talk about, a part of me that since joining Dauntless I'd become far too ashamed of to feel comfortable discussing it.
"I can't..." I shook my head.
"You said you'd tell me about it." His voiced raised a little.
"I know, but it's not something I want to talk about."
"I need to know. Just tell me why." He persisted getting more annoyed at my reluctance.
"Eric, no." I said more sternly this time, I may be being a little bit stubborn but so was he. I crossed my arms defiantly.
"After everything we've been through you still don't trust me enough to tell me." He too crossed his arms, but I'd had enough.
"I'm going home." I said simply picking up my belongings and leaving his protests behind.
I cried myself to sleep that night, alone and ashamed.
