Eric's POV
Waking up was hard to do. It was the Cleanse, everything was to change. I pulled Ritza closer to me, not wanting to get out of bed yet. She sighed contently. It seemed strange that the best Dauntless was fuelled by the one thing a dauntless was not. Now that initiation is over things will change. She won't be motivated by the threat of being factionless, will she go back to her Amity ways. I hope not, I also thinks it's unlikely, I saw a rage in her that has been simmering for so long, it would not be so easily cured.
"Ritza, come on Doe, we gotta go." I got up from the bed and walked to the kitchen, making pancakes in record time, I came back to the bedroom to see her still asleep. Gently brushing the hair out of her face I shook her gently.
"Eric, I don't want to get up." She complained.
"You have to, The Cleanse is today."
"No, I'm sleeping."
"I made pancakes." That got her up fast. Over breakfast we had a real conversation.
"We're not dumb you know, The Cleanse, Jeneane's plan, we don't like it." I began.
"Then why are we following it." She asked and I grinned, probably like a psychopath.
"We're planning to take her down. The invasion on Abnegation well do nothing they're already evacuated. She has about 50 solid followers we'll have to take out." She frowned.
"But I thought she was taking out divergents."
"She is a divergent, she thinks we don't know, but we're not that stupid." I smirk.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" I was taken aback.
"Max thought you were a liability, we can't afford that right now."
"Do you think I'm a liability?" She asked.
"No."
"Then why didn't you tell me?"
"I-" an alarm went off.
"We have to go." I said grabbing her hand.
"We'll talk about this later, if there is one." She said following me.
"I'm not gonna let anything happen to you. Promise." I said, not sure if I was saying more for me or her, I never thought I'd connect with someone on this level. Most of the time I can't be bothered dealing with people's bullshit, but she keeps it real, she amazes me."Don't make promises you can't keep."
Ritza's POV
The corridors are filled with Dauntless members under the sim all walking towards the exit. How could I have not known this, I'm not gonna lie I am frustrated but as long as the divergents get what they deserve. Suddenly Eric pulled me into a small room.
"What are we doing in here?" I asked feeling around for a light switch.
"There isn't a light in here, there's just one more thing I had to do before we meet up with the others." He says taking a deep breath.
"What is it?" I asked suddenly impatient, I wanted this day over so fast it wasn't even funny. He placed a hand on my face and kissed me. It was soft, gentle, not like any other. It felt like a goodbye. I pulled away.
"This is not goodbye, you understand that, yeah?" I said forcefully."I know Ritza, just let me have this moment." He was showing more emotion than usual so I let him have it. The moment we left the room it was straight back to business. We had to be strong not just foe each other but for the entire faction. This was going to take a toll on a lot of people.
After all the regular members of Dauntless are sent off to supposedly attack the Abnegation, the remainder of us, a total 20 were going to have to take down the 51 divergents currently in our compound. It started off relatively covertly, Eric and I went around to lock all the doors whilst seemingly checking for straggling members of dauntless. The first one we spotted Eric pulled out a gun and shot in the head, it was a little confronting everything was one hundred percent real right now. But I didn't have time to think about that sort of thing. These divergents posed a great danger to us and after the damage they cause me and Eric, I was going to have no mercy. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a divergent creeping up behind Eric. Instantly I shot, the bullet flying right past Eric's head. He raised eyebrows at me and turned around.
"Nice shot Doe." We continued our mission and returned back to the control room. It was at this time that Jeanine had begun to realise that something was off. There weren't any Abnegations around and some of her men were missing, That was the signal that it was time to stop everything. We began by taking out anyone in our way as we edged towards Jeanine, Eric and I fought back to back we were one hell of a team.
"Stop!" She screamed, but the fighting continued.
"Stop or I'll make them blow each others heads off!" That made us stop. We all faced Jeanine and her few minions, about 6 were left raced to her side. I looked among us few had fallen but we still had the advantage. However I was the only with a weapon. I knife to be exact, I kept it behind my back edging closer to Eric. As Jeanine was screaming maniacally at her other divergent people I whispered to Eric.
"I have a knife, if I hit her in the head she'll be dead before sh hits the ground you reckon we take the rest out after that before they do anything dramatic?" He looks to the other memebers of our team and makes a couple of signals, that I had absolutely no idea what they meant."We got you Ritz. Don't miss." He replied and kissed me on the cheek.

Wow, Cliffhanger. Hope you all enjoy it, I mean I finally had time to write this and I really am running out of ideas for where this story should go so, if you've got any hit me up. I'll be sure to give you a mention. Why is Eric so emotional right now? Ugh, see ya next chapter.
