Chapter 15

Diesel' s pov
"Oh, sh1t. Natalie. Natalie, Zoe, Mia it's Barrett. He's moving." Diesel called to us
"Oh, shit." Zoe said
"I thought she said it would last 20 minutes." I said
"The freaks in the fallout shelter are gonna start waking up. Violet's timing is way off. I have to warn them." Natalie said running to warn them .
Mia's pov
Barrett started groaning
"Hey. Hey, easy, easy. You're okay. Barrett. Okay, come on. Just show us the radio." Zoey said getting Barrett up
"I swear they were on this frequency before." Barrett said
"Yeah? And what did the say?" I asked with Noodle standing behind me his arms around me rested on me belly
"Not much. All I heard was "Copy, Kent High." Barrett said
"And who were you talking to before that? " diesel asked
"We don't know that he was." Zoey said
"That's what Grover said." Diesel said
"Grover overreacted." Barrett said
"Yeah like I believe that" Noodle mumbled.
"Zoey, Noodle and I are going for a walk. Tell Violet I'm fine when she gets back." I said Zoey nodded and Noodle and I took off.
"I don't feel good Noodle" I said once we where far enough away from the others.
"I don't think I've been eating enough for me and the baby" I said slightly crying
"You should have told me sooner. I would have given you my food." He said.
"I don't want to lose her" I said now fully crying
"Shhh baby it's okay, your going to be fine....But we have to tell the others you need more food and more rest than you've been getting" Noodle said
"Okay we'll tell them tomorrow. I just want to sleep." I said
"Come on baby" he said leading me to the teachers lounge. He laid down on the couch and I laid in front of him he wrapped his arms around me and I feel asleep.
Zoey's pov
"What? Did you hear that?" Barrett asked
"I hope to God that's a rat." I said
"Sounds like it's coming from the lobby." Diesel said as we heard another loud thump in the vents.
"Give me your phone." Diesel said to me
"Be careful." I said as diesel went to look in the vents
"What do you see?" I asked
"Nothing. Could've just been a... " diesel said getting out of the vents real quick a freak tumbling behind him. The freak got on top of diesel biting him. I got it off diesel and ran into a room
"Wait. Did he get you?" Barrett asked
"No. No, it didn't go through." Diesel said referring to his jacket
"We can't stay in here forever." I said
"Stay here." Diesel said
"What?" I asked as diesel walked off
"So did you get through to anyone on the radio?" I asked
"Maybe. Reception was spotty. It's a start." Barrett said
" Why weren't you more up front with it earlier?" I asked
"No use. People just want to see my fail." Barrett said
"No, people expect the most out of you, because you can do the most out of any of us" I said
"Maybe. But no one has my back." Barrett said
"That's not true." I said
"It's easy for you to say. At least you have Lesean." Barrett said
" The hallway's clear" diesel said coming back
Diesels pov
We were all walking back to the teachers lounge with the masks once we met up with the group from the bunker. We walked in and saw Mia asleep on one of the couches wrapped in noodles arms.
"Shh" noodle said
"How longs it been since she slept?" Violet whisper asked Noodle
"The day I came back here was the first day she's slept since I went missing since we got back she hasn't slept at all." Noodle whispered
"She must be exhausted" Zoey said
"Did you get the masks?" Noodle asked
"Yep" I said holding up the box LeShaen gave me.
"Hopefully now we can get out of here." Zoey said
"Let me count them first" I said sitting down on the couch across from Mia and Noodle.
"Seven, the spoils of victory." I said once I finished counting them
"And our best shot of getting out of here." Natalie said quietly
"Yeah, well, you don't understand. This dude had no chance." LeShaen said telling Noodle all about what happened
"Seriously, no chance." Violet said
"Like, he just came up. It was, like... like Lazarus. Like a phoenix. Speech." LeShaen said
"Yeah, speech" Violet said
" I can honestly say I've never felt so lucky... And so scared shitless in my entire life." Grover said

"Keep checking. " Barrett said to me about checking to make sure the masks work
"The hell?" I said
"What? What is it?" Violet asked
"These filters are all shot, rotted out." I said about the masks
"What?" Violet asked
"Yeah, look. These are all useless. All of them except this one." I said holding the mask that Grover found
"So only one of us can leave." Violet said.
