Miles POV

"Okay Hollingsworth. You can clock out," those words were like sexual music to my ears. Thank goodness. I clocked out my time sheet and headed for the door.

"Hey Miles wait up!" Jeremy said. I held the door open and raised an eyebrow at him. We walked out of the building and into the street. It was 6:04pm.

"You know, we've been friends for a while and I haven't meant your husband," he snickered, putting his arm on my shoulder.

"Why do you wanna meet my husband?" I asked. "He isn't my husband yet, we're happily engaged."

He scoffed. "Husband, fiancé, ahh. It's the same thing really. So when can I meet him? And your family?" I was weirded out by these questions. I shook my head and laughed under my breath.

"Wow don't you think that's a little too fast? We haven't even went on a first date yet," I joked. He gave me a look and his smile faded. Geez. Dude can dish it out but he couldn't take it.

"I'm gay..." he said out of nowhere. I stopped walking and stared at him. There's no way. I mean, I've seen him check out a few girls at work so I didn't think he'd be into guys.

"Haha! Am I being punk'd?" I said as I continued to walk. "Because you got me! Where are the cameras?"

Jeremy was acting weird now. He said nothing more to me till we reached the bus stop. "Dude?" I said.

"Never mind! Just forget I even mentioned it," he sat on the bus stop bench and put on his ear bugs. I stared at him and shook my head. What is this about?

"Dude what's your deal? I was just messing with you...are you really...?" I stared up at me and then I knew. He was. He was gay. He nodded slowly and narrowed his eyes to the ground.

"Are you gonna cry?" I asked, putting my hand on his shoulder. He jerked it away and shook his head.

"I said I'm gay, you dick. Not a cry baby," he punched my arm and I felt how strong his hand was. Ow! That hurt. We looked at each other and bursted into sudden laughter.

"Haha oh man...well then if you're gay, I won't judge. I'm not a homophobe as you can tell. When did you first find out?" I asked.

"I had a best friend, Jason, and like we were best friends since grade school and...well one night, he slept over and he kept tickling me and then he accidentally touch my dick,"

"Wtf, were your clothes off or some-"

"No! What part of accident do you not understand? I don't know it just sorta happened, then he asked if he could touch it again," I could see Jeremy choking up as he started to explain.

"Come on Jeremy, just one more time," he said as he was on top of me. He tugged on my shirt and moaned softly.

"Dude, my parents are gonna see," I told him. He got off me and chuckled as he took his shirt off.

"What's the worse that they could do?" He asked as he pushed me to my bed.

"Jason! Stop, okay?" He pressed his lips against mine. I wanted to push him away but I didn't. Instead, I pressed my fingers on his bare back and moaned as he started to kiss my neck. He slowly pulled away and smiled.

"Do you still want me to stop?" I needed to say yes. But I knew very well that I didn't want to. I wanted him to keep going. I didn't want him to stop. I slowly played with his tongue and inhaled his sweet smelling breath. My bed room door opened and there stood my dad.

"What the hell?!?" He said as he pulled Jason away from me. My dad grabbed him by the throat and shoved him to the wall.

"Stay the hell away from my son! You hear me?" Jason nodded as he got up and left my room.

"Wow. That's terrible," I told Jeremy. "What happened? Did you two ever talk again after that?" He looked up at me and his eyes were sad. I could tell how hurt he was. His dad didn't accept him and gave him every reason to fear being himself. I experienced that too. My dad wasn't the most accepting.

"We never talked after that. That's why I'm here, working. Being in the navy really was the only thing my dad could think of to fix me," he replied.
"I go on FaceRange and I see all his posts with his new boyfriend. If I'm not mistaken, they were engaged last time I saw," I nodded. I felt bad for the dude. All he wanted was to be himself and he was afraid.

"Hey Jeremy so maybe if you want, you could follow me home. I'd love for you to meet my family. Not necessarily my family but my fiancé's family. Still my family but you get the picture," he stood up and shook his head.

"Miles, I don't need your pity man. Besides, I'd really hate to intru-"

"Dude," I put both my hands on his shoulders. "You are coming to my house! You're gonna meet the fiancé, the in laws, and my baby girl. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you," he nodded happily. We waited a couple more minutes for the bus. It took about 30 minutes to get to the house. We were both quiet the whole ride there. The bus had finally stopped and we got down. We walked towards the door and I took out my key.

"I'm kinda nervous. What if they don't like me," Jeremy asked, putting his hands in his pockets. I chuckled as I turned the knob and pushed the door open.

"Mrs. Milligan?" I called out. It was dark. That was odd. I knew they'd all be home. It was 7:34pm. Where would they all be? I then heard the sound of the light flicker on.

"SURPRISE!" I looked to see decorations and a beautiful table with food and drinks. I was completely surprised. With the way Tristan was today, I really thought he forgot. I forgot too. I stared at my fiancé and smiled like an idiot. He walked towards me holding our little girl. I leaned to her and kissed her forehead. I then looked at Tristan and met his beautiful and breathtaking eyes.

"You...you're behind this. I really thought you forgot," I said as I pressed my lips on his cheeks. He giggled. "Thanks baby, I appreciate this,"

"I'll never forget hun," he smiled. He quickly glanced at Jeremy. "Who's he? A friend?" I turned to Jeremy and seen him staring at Tristan. The nerve. I slapped his arm.

"Oh yeah...his friend from work. Hi I'm Jeremy...sorry you...look like my ex boyfriend," Tristan nodded awkward and pulled me to the side.

"I've texted Zoë like a hundred times. Do you have any idea where she is?" He asked me.

"No I don't. Not surprised she isn't here, I mean, she hates my guts so..."

"She doesn't hate you, Miles." I stared at Tristan and suddenly remembered that I had to have the talk with him. I didn't know if tonight was the right time but it was my birthday. I figured that if I did talk to him about it now, he'd give me his honest answer and opinion.

"Tris so I was wondering...I mean I'm gonna be leaving to bootcamp in a few months and...I don't know I figured that after my training, I'd maybe wanna go out on the field..." Tristan stared at me confused. "Like active duty. Just for a good year,"

He took a while to answer. I could tell he was hurt by the idea. I felt hurt too but this is what I wanted to do. To make something of myself. Someone my daughter can be proud of. Tristan took my hands and sighed.

"I guess it's okay. I mean, you've been so patient...but you can only go after Hope's first birthday," The words came out of Tristan's mouth but I couldn't believe it. I pulled him in for a passionate kiss that lasted a few seconds. We were interrupted by our daughter who was cooing at us. We leaned our heads together and stared at her. I was so thankful for her. For Tristan, too. I was just beyond excited for the future. It looked bright.
