Zoe's POV

It's been a few months since I've spoken to Tristan. I don't know if he's mad at me or anything. He's so busy with the baby and his school work and I didn't wanna bother him. Tonight was prom. I didn't have a date but I've been hanging with Lexi lately. Her and I have been by each other's side for a while. We've filled out college applications together, just for fun. It was always fun when it came to Lexi. I was always laughing with her but it still didn't feel complete without him. He was my best friend. I just had to understand that he had another life. I wasn't a part of it anymore and I guess that's just how it's going to be. I parked in front of the dress shop and sighed as I took my phone out. I was 10 minutes early. Oh well. More time to shop and stuff. I walk into the shop and seen Tristan, Miles, Anya, and Mrs. Milligan. I lower my head down and walked towards the rack of clothes beside me.

"Zoë?" Mrs. Milligan walked towards me. I slowly looked up and smiled slyly.

"Hi..." I said. "Long time no see," she nodded in agreement and gave me a hug. I always loved her hugs. She always felt so warm.

"We haven't seen you at the house," she told me as she looked through the rack with me. "Tristan misses you. He's been down, you know,"

"Oh well I just figured he's always busy with Hope and Miles and school..." I replied sadly. She stared at me and shook her head.

"He's pretty upset with you. He thinks you abandoned him because he had a baby," she told me. I shook my head completely denying her statement.

"I wouldn't!!! I just...didn't wanna intrude... he has his own little family and I kept telling myself...what could he possibly want with me," I said to her. She stared at me sadly. There were so many times I wanted to check on him. So many times where I needed him but I didn't wanna burden him with my problem. I look at Tristan and seen Miles staring at me. He tapped Tristan's shoulder and pointed to me. Tristan turned around and stared at me. His stare was cold and I could tell he was angry. I expected that he'd come to me all excited but instead he turned his attention to his rack of clothes that he was looking through. That hurt. Miles came to me and smiled.

"For once, I actually miss you, Zo." He said. I sighed and gave him a hug.

"He's mad at me...and I totally get why," i say as I hang my head down. He chuckled.

"Yeah he uh...thinks you don't wanna be his friend anymore or something. Look, Tristan is still Tristan. I'm sure you two will work out what ever it is you two got going on. You guys always do," Miles says as he folds his arms. "You going to prom?"

"Yeah I'm just waiting for my dress. It's done already I'm just waiting to pay," I told him. "How's Hope? She looks so big already,"

"She's fine. She just started standing up by herself a week ago. She's quite the learner that one. Smart like her dad." He says with a chuckle. "I mean Tristan," I nodded awkwardly as I stared at Mrs. Milligan who had moved on to another rack.

"I should go talk to him..." I say, clasping my hands together. Miles nods.

"By the way, he knows you've always been with Lexi," he said. I stared at him confused.

"How does he know that?"

"My cousin comes by the house every other day and checks up on Hope. Lexi talks about everything you do together which makes Tristan jealous...so just don't lie because it'll make him more mad," he explains. He pats me in the back before he heads to the door. "Good luck," I stared at him as he went outside and stood by the poorly dressed mannequin. I took a deep breath and sighed as I started towards Tristan. I tapped his shoulder and he turned around, looking disgusted.

"What do you want?" He asks coldly.

"Tris, I can explai-"

"No. I don't wanna talk to you," he decided as he held Hope. He started towards the other rack as I followed after him.

"I'm sorry! Okay? I just felt like I'd be a bother if I kept checking up on you and I didn't want to come in between you and your-" we were interrupted by Mrs. Milligan who took Hope from Tristan.

"Come on baby, lets go over there and look for your prom clothes. It's never to early to plan," Tristan watched as his mom carried Hope away. He crossed his arms and glared at me.

"You felt like a bother? You didn't wanna interrupt what? Zoë, we've been best friends for so long since when did you ever feel that way with me? I have always included you in my family! Why is it so different now?" He raised his voice which caused some of the store customers to look. I rushed towards him and pulled him into the changing closet.

"Tristan..." I grabbed his hand. "You have a baby. You and Miles are engaged...soon to be married. Where do I fit in there?" I felt tears run down y face. I see him staring at me.

"Your Hope's godmother, Zoë," I stared up at him and felt an immense emotion of love fill my heart.

"I'm...her godmother?" I asked, trying to make sure I was hearing correctly. He nodded.

"You are. Her Godmother, my maid of honor, my best friend, my go to on guys, my binge watch vampire diaries best friend....do you want me to continue? There's a long list..."

"No," I laughed. "I...that means so much to me,"

"Yeah, you'd know that if you came over. Listen, no matter how much my life changes, no matter how much kids I have or whatever, you will always be my best friend. I love you so much. I don't know what I'd do without you, Zoë. I felt like I lost you," a single tear fell from his eyes which made me pull him into a tight hug. I felt the tears coming. I knew it would come. It felt so good talking to Tristan. He truly was my best friend.

"You will never lose me, Tris. I'm sorry I was such a jerk," he slowly pulled away from me and a big smile formed on his face.

"Okay...now quit this mushy crap and help me find an outfit for prom. I swear Miles has no good fashion taste what so ever," he said as Miles creeped behind him.

"Well at least I have good taste in guys," he replied as he bit his lower lip. Tristan made a face as he turned to him and kissed his cheek. The two laughed.

"I'm gonna go home. Mom and I are gonna go I think Hope is tired," he said. "Zoë, bring him home in one piece, okay? Straight home after,"

"No promises. It's been a while since we've had a decent drink," I snickered.

"No drinks for me, Zo. I'm a parent remember?" I groaned but nodded. I respected that.

"Then after we find your outfit, lets go get some ice cream," he smiled as he wrapped his hand around me and nodded. Things between Tristan and I could not have been any better. Next stop, PROM BITCHES! Time to slay with my bestie!
