Tristan's POV
Graduation was finally here. Four years of blood, sweat, and tears all led up to this moment where we would all finally part from our beloved school. I've made so much memories, met so many people, both temporary and forever. I've made some mistakes and then some decisions that changed my life. Never the less, I don't regret any part of it. It wouldn't have made me into the person I am today.
I got out of bed and seen that my graduation gown had already been out and ironed for me."Hi sweeties," my mom stood at my doorway, smiling. "Hops you didn't mind, we let you sleep in. We took Hopefully to the park," I nodded and grabbed my phone. 12:45pm. Crap. I was feeling hungry. I get up and smile at my mom.
"You and Miles still aren't talking?" She asks me. I was making my bed. I didn't wanna talk about this. We were talking but just for our daughter. I was still very much mad at him for not signing the restraining order form with me. I was mad that he still let Lexi see Hope.
"Mom..." I start to say when I see Miles walk in. I continued to make my bed and then sighed.
"Tristan, I-"
"I'm hungry, is there something down stairs for me to eat?" I turn to her. She stared sadly at me then at Miles.
"Some left over pot roast from last night, sweetie," I nodded as I walked out the door. I didn't care that I was being harsh. It's been a week and I'm just not in the right place to talk to him. I go downstairs and see my daughter crawling towards me. Her smile is so bright and full of joy. I was definitely lucky to have her. She's my everything.
"Today is the day, brother," Owen says from the kitchen way. He hands me a cup of hot chocolate. I nodded as I take a sip. Man that's delicious.
"I know I'm pretty excited,"
"We are too!!!" Anya says out of nowhere. "I'm excited for tonight! Party!" I knew she'd plan something special for me. She always did that.
"I don't know, Ans. I don't really feel like celebrating," she glared at me as she picks up Hope.
"NO!" She raises her voice. "You do not get to tell me that, Tris. I've been planning for weeks! Owen and I are literally the best god parents," I smile at her and give in. I go to the kitchen and eat quickly. Once I finished, I washed my dish. I turned around and see Miles standing there, staring at me.
"Do you need something?" I asked him as I put the plates away. He walks towards me and sighs heavily.
"Tristan, please. I'm sorry, okay?"
"It's cool," I replied. "You know, today is suppose to feel like...bittersweet but I'm honestly just wishing the time would go by so I could sleep," he shakes his head at me and grabs my hand.
"She's family, Tris. I can't turn away family. She's trying to apologize and she's tried to talk to you but you never give her the time of day!" E starts to raise his voice and I felt the need to slap him across his face.
"Why are you raising your voice? Can we not do this now?" I jerk his hand away and walked away from him. He follows me into the living room.
"No!! We are gonna do this now!" He yells. Owen, Anya, my mom and dad turn to us. I put my hands on my neck and shake my head.
"I'm not doing this right now," I tell him.
"Tristan!" He yells. "I was always so patient. I always a gave you what you wanted. You know? When Owen always treated me like crap, not once, did I ever disrespect him or turn him away," I stare at him and nodded.
"I put up with it because I love you. Now I know he may have not done what Lexi did but the point is he is your brother. And Lexi? She's like a sister to me. I know what she did was wrong. She knows. Look, I'm not saying to be friends with her. I'm not saying to call her your best friend and make up. I'm asking you to understand the love I have for her. Is like the love you have for Owen. We may not always get along with them but we love and care for them simply because they're family," I stare at my brother who gives me a sly smile. Maybe Miles was right. I was angry at him for all the wrong reasons. It was okay for me to be angry with Lexi but not Miles. I had to give him the same patience he gave me. I sighed.
"Okay...I love my brother. I'm sorry, baby." I rush to him and wrap my arms around him. He put his hands on my waist and lifts me up. As soon as he sets me down, I pull away from him. My phone buzzes and the song Roar by Katy Pery plays. Everyone stared at me.
"And that's my alarm. We gotta
Get going if we wanna meet everyone before the ceremony," my dad walks over to me and smiles."Tristan," He says. "Your mother and I are so proud of you both. Regardless what trials you two face. You always seem to overcome it. That's real love,"
"Miles, son. I'm glad you're my son in law. The way you care for my son and my granddaughter makes me so proud. You truly are a strong man and we will all miss you when you leave next week training," I turn to Miles who looks like he's about to cry.
"That means a lot Mr. Milligan," Miles replies respectfully.
"Call me Dean, Miles. You're married to my son now. No more Mr. Milligan. It makes me...feel old." I smile at my family before Miles and I leave to Degrassi. The car ride there was quiet. I felt sad knowing that it'll be the last time Miles and I go to school together. When we reached a stop light, he held my hand and squeezed it.
"I'm scared, Tris." He tells me. I pat his leg.
"It's just graduation. You'll do fine on your speech," he stared at me and shook his head.
"No, not about that. About leaving to training...I'm scared," I sigh heavily. I could only imagine but he couldn't back out now. Even though I wasn't happy with his decision I still had to support him. He was, after all, my husband.
"Don't be scared. I mean, it's what you wanted and if you're having regrets then it's just the nerves kicking in. You're gonna be an amazing Royal Navy man. And I'm so proud of you," he smiles at me. I didn't want him to go. A part of me feared losing him. But I know he'd come back for me and Hope. The drive to Degrassi was quiet. Miles pulls in to park. This is it. He grabs our cap and gowns. He takes my hand and we head to the gymnasium.
"Miles!" Principal Simpson calls out. Miles and I stop.
"Do you have your speech ready?" He asked. Miles quickly glances at me then smiled. He walks toward Principle Simpson and whispers something in his ear. He nods at Miles and shakes his hand.
"What was that about?" I asked as we continued to the auditorium.
"Oh nothing. Let's get in there, shall we,"
