After a twelve hour drive, we parked at a hotel on the outer skirts of Giffersburg, and we stayed the night. It's now noon the next day, and we are waiting for these 'brothers' Castiel keeps mentioning.
"Cas" I say finally. "Stop pacing."
"I have acquired this knack from Sam. It's not something I'm accustomed to, but I seem to do it anyway."
"Look" I stand from the table. "They'll be here. This Weapon you're going on about - we've got it in the fucking bag. I mean, it wasn't that hard. So chill. We'll get it."
"I hope so."
A small knock sounds at the door, then a slightly raspy, low voice calls. "Cas. It's us."
In a flash, Cas is at the door, opening it up. He grins at who he sees, with unmistakable love in his eyes.
The first, is short, but he looks stern and stubborn, like he is the oldest. He wears a brown, leather jacket, I top of a flannel, with navy blue jeans and boots. His hair, slightly golden brown, and short, and his eyes are a sparkling green.
The other, is taller, but looks the youngest out of the two. His brown hair is long, just to the base of his neck, with bright hazel eyes. He wears a plaid blue shirt, buttoned up. With those jeans and boots - same as his brothers.
"Cas, we need more information on what's happening" the shorter one says, taking a look around the room. "You told us jack on the phone. So--"
He finally notices me.
He's probably in his early, or mid thirties. I suddenly feel self conscious of my age.
"Who's this?" He says somewhat accusingly.
The taller one elbows him. "Hey. Be nice."
"Oh. Right" Castiel says, coming to my side. "Boys, this is Evangeline Mortem. A Hunter."
"Looks a bit young to be a hunter" the shorter one remarks.
"I'm twenty two" I say, looking up at both of them since, they tower me.
The taller one smiles, holding out his hand. "Sam Winchester." Then is eyes widen. "Mortem? Was your father Ridley Mortem?"
The shorter one looks to Sam, confused. I too, look at him confused.
Sam smiles, like he's calling back on an old memory. "Ridley! Don't you remember?" He looks to his brother. "We were at Bobby's when dad came home and got us after a hunt. That man was with them. He was like, ten years younger than dad! Ridley. Remember? Curly, brown hair, pale, those...eyes, of his."
"Ohh" the short one says, laughing slightly. "Purple eyes! I remember him."
I growl.
Both boys seem startled by it, and honestly, so am I. But I keep the glare in my eyes, the gritting of my teeth.
Sam looks to his brother. "This is Dean. You can tell he hasn't had many friends."
Dean gives him a startled, innocent 'what did I do?' Look.
"Anyway" Castiel says, getting our attention. "The Weapon is here and I intend to find it."
"What is the weapon?" Sam asks.
"A creature."
"What creature?" Dean asks.
"One more powerful than any demon, Angel, or God put together. Now let's go" Castiel says, walking out.
Dean sighs. "Well, at least we've fought deadlier things."
All together, we walk out, towards Jims - the dinner that the creature saw.
