I dropped the bat and covered my mouth in shock. My mom gasped and started crying.

"ESSENCE WHAT HAVE YOU DONE" she screamed at me

"I DON'T KNOW I DIDN'T MEAN TO MOMMY I'M SORRY" I started crying as I saw Teniyah blacked out on the floor.

"I can take her to the hospital if you'd like" shean said

"No you've caused enough problems" I butted in and sitting down next to my mom and Teniyah

"Don't say that because your the one that has been causing the problems here" mom said furious

"Your taking his side he has-

"Be quiet and stop talking back. Being disrespectful. Yoou could take her to the hospital and essence and I will meet you there" mom said

"Ok see you there" shean said picking up my sister and leaving to the hospital

"Go put on some clothes and let's go... HURRY UP" mom yelled

I hurried and ran upstairs. Once I got to my room I started crying. I couldn't believe what I had done. I don't know what was going through my head to swing that bat. I quickly put on some random clothes, grabbed my phone and met my mom downstairs.

"Ready" I said walking to the door

"Ok let's go" she said walking out the door. I followed behind as she got into the car and sped out of the driveway. The car ride was silent and you could feel the tension between my mom and I. We had never been like this and it's not going to start now.

"Mommy I'm sorry I didn't mean to do it" I said tearing up

"I know but you shouldn't have done it in the first place. Why did you even swing the bat"

"I don't know I guess it was because it was a strange, good looking man at the door calling you 'baby' and you not saying anything about it. He could've been some rapist trying to-

"He isn't a stranger or strange man" my mom said cutting me off "he's my ex-boyfriend"

I sat there looking at my mom speechless even though she didn't look at me, I know she saw me through the side of her eye. My tear was gone and I was raged of anger

"Why didn't you tell teniyah and I about him?"I asked upset

"Because he was my ex and it was non of y'all business plus I didn't expect him to come back. I didn't know that he knew where I lived"

"Ok so why did he call us his daughters"

She didn't say anything after that.

"Mom"

"I don't know why don't you ask him"

"Because I'm not about to ask my mom's ex that I don't know at all a question like that when I could just ask you." I said with a tone that my mom noticed, but I could tell she didn't like any part of it.

"Do NOT get an attitude with me I don't know who you think your talking to like that. I am not your father letting you get away with an attitude so don't start with me"

"At this point I don't even know who my father is so the only person I've gotten an attitude with, is you"

My mom gripped the wheel with anger. She sped up and tried to keep her calm but it wasn't working. I just sat back and waited for this long ride to be over.

*20 minutes later*

"Get out my car" my mom said getting out, and slamming the door behind her.
