***WON BEST BROCK LESNAR FAN FICTION JUNE 2017***
Kate Dawson's life was picture perfect. She had a good job, an amazing fiancé, and a beautiful baby girl on the way. Just when Kate thought things couldn't get any better, everything started falling...
Ann came by the house early the next morning. She told me that she hadn't told Dana about our meeting but couldn't hide it from him once the house was on the market. He would see the listing sooner or later, and that was something I would eventually have to deal with. She did promise me that she wouldn't list the house until I landed in Minneapolis. If Dana did find out, at least I wouldn't be in the state.
Once she had taken the pictures she needed, she left so I could pack my things. When I finished, I had four suitcases to my name. Everything else would be left behind to be put away in storage.
By lunch, my taxi had arrived. Before locking up, I took one last look around. This had been my life for years and now, I was leaving it. My life for the past ten years would be no more. All the hurt I had felt in this house would be left here; I was starting over again.
As I locked the door and stepped off the porch, I felt as if all my bad memories stayed within the walls. I never knew how much a house could change your perspective until today. "Where to?" The taxi driver asks as I enter the car.
"The airport, please." He nodded and began pulling away from the curb. A part of me wanted to look back but I kept my eyes straight ahead. The past was behind me, this was me, Kate Dawson, starting over.

"Wow," was the only thing that escaped my lips as Brock pulled up to the brick farmhouse. It sat proudly between two oak trees, with grazing fields on either side. "I've never seen so much grass in my life."
Brock chuckled. "Kate, welcome to the country."
As he parked the truck, I slipped out of the passenger side and walked over to the fence. A group of cattle were grazing nearby.

"That's my dairy cows. And that there is Anna Belle, she's one of the elders of the group. She doesn't produce milk anymore but I just couldn't send her off to be slaughtered." He calls her with a clicking sound and she comes to the fence. "Anna Belle, this is Kate. Kate, this is Anna Belle."
I laugh at his introduction as I cautiously move my hand toward her head. "She doesn't bite, does she?"
"No, now, come on, don't be afraid of her." He grabbed my hand and pulled it toward her head and sure enough, I was petting a cow. "See? She ain't scary."
I smiled. "I'm petting a cow. Kate Dawson is on a farm, petting a cow."
He looked at me, apparently amused by my remark. "Yes, you are, is that hard to believe?"
I nodded. "If you knew me before all of this, it would be. I was a city girl up and down, you couldn't have paid me to leave and move to the country."
"Then I probably wouldn't have liked you but then again, you wouldn't have liked me a few years ago either."
Just from what I had seen at the fight, I couldn't disagree. "Yeah, well, I guess old age has its perks."
He smiled and leaned against the fence. "Kate Dawson, did you just call me old?"
I shrug. "Brock, neither of us are teenagers anymore."
"No, but we ain't old. I keep telling myself that as long as I keep working and look as handsome as I do, I'm still in my early thirties."
He winked and I lost it. "Oh, as handsome as you do, huh?" Hysterical laughter erupted. "Sounds like someone's a little full of themselves."
"What? Are you saying that I ain't good looking? And I'd be careful how you answer that, since you are living in my house now."
I smiled. "I'm joking. I guess you're alright."
"Alright?" He faked being hurt. "Now, that's just a hit to a man's confidence."
I turned to face him. "Fine, you're the bomb.com! Happy?"
"Maybe when you actually mean it."
I rolled my eyes and turned toward the house. "Are you gonna show me around, or what?"
He shook his head. "Nah, I'm just gonna let you wander around like a lost calf." I glared. "I'm joking! Lighten up, Kate."
"You don't generally act this way. It's scary."
He chuckles. "I told you, the work me and the real me are completely different. Although, usually people say the work me is scary... That's kind of how my career came to be."
"I guess it'll just take me some getting used to, is all." I paused. "But I like it. You're a total goof."
He smiled. "Keep that to yourself, or I'll have to beast out. Can't have my reputation getting ruined, now can I?"
I laughed and followed him toward the house. Being here, with Brock, I realized that maybe this would work. Maybe Minneapolis and I were the right fit.
