Chapter 4- Step One To Humanity

Damon and I have been sitting on the couch talking for a good 2 hours now and Stefan still hasn't come back yet. I'm starting to worry.

"Damon I'm starting to worry about him. He hasn't even tried calling one of us." I said while biting my lip.

"Oh he's fine! Don't worry about him he's probably just at the grill still talking to Caroline. Vampire barbie can talk." Damon said while getting up to go get another drink.

I nodded and then said "Okay so whats the dealio with Elena. Its like she loves Stefan but from what I saw she was hanging all over you Damon, what the heck is going on?"

He shrugged and said nonchalantly "I kissed her and she kissed back no big deal. And she has given up a little on Stefan she said he has just taken it to far."

"Okay but Damon, she probably doesn't understand that once Stefan gets his humanity back she's going to be going after him again, and she does love you but I think that maybe she loves Stefan more. I just don't want you to get hurt by her because she says that she likes or loves you now but when regular Stefan is back its going to be strictly friends between you two." I softly.

He nodded and said "I get that. But I do love her but I know that she will end up with Stefan either way."

I sighed and said "Its sucks doesn't it? Having someone that you love so close but so far away from you at the same time." 

He laughed without humor and said "Yeah it does."

We heard a door slam and I chuckled and said "Showtime!" 

Damon smiled and then I heard Stefan yell "Why did you guys leave me at the grill and not come back for me!?" 

He was stomping towards us and I said with an innocent smile "Oh Stef we just thought because we had to bring Elena and Jeremy home that you would get a ride from Caroline or something?"

"You two freaking knew that I would be mad if you left me there to find my own ride!" He snarled.

"Who us? Oh no we didn't know Stefan." Damon said in mock innocence.

I chuckled and then stopped when I saw the look I was getting from Stefan. "Okay fine whatever I'm going to bed goodnight you two!" He growled and then stomped up the stairs. 

I laughed and then said "Okay I'm going to shower before bed so you stay down here while I do that in your room. When I'm done you can come in okay?"

He sighed and said "Okay." I smiled and then went upstairs and into Damon's room. 

I grabbed my clothes and robe and then went to the bathroom. I stripped off my clothes and then turned the shower on and stepped in. I took a 25 minute shower then got out and slipped my P.J's on. I knew Damon would come up on his own so I got into the bed and fell asleep quickly.

Tap. Tap. Tap. 

I woke up to Damon tapping my side to wake me up. It was quite annoying actually. I looked over at him and he was smirking.

I glared and he said "Not a morning person I see." 

I shoved him off the bed and he landed on the floor with a thud. I grinned and said "Nope I'm a very angry person in the morning if I am woken up rudely." 

He groaned and choked out "Dually noted."

I chuckled then got out of bed. I went over to my suitcase and grabbed a pair of light wash ripped denim shorts,brown belt, cream long sleeve shirt, and brown flat boots that had three layers of fringe and they went little over my ankle. I went into Damon's closet and changed then went into the bathroom and brushed my hair. I was right in the middle of brushing my hair when Damon came waltzing in the bathroom shirtless.
