Chapter 5- Step two to Humanity

"How long is this going to take Evie!" Damon whined. You see its been about 2 hours since we put Stefan down in the shelter and Damon is now bored so this is why he is acting like this.  

I rolled my eyes and said "Hours, maybe days."

He groaned and said "I can't stay down here for days!"

I sighed and said while shrugging "Then don't. Keep an eye on Elena or something I can handle this he's not suposed to see you anyway." 

He gave me a flat look and said "I can't you know I'd end up telling her about the spell."

I looked away from my magazine then said "Then tell her she's going to be curious anyway. And its not like she can stop the spell. I know because Emily didn't give the spell to Bonnie just in case Bonnie told someone." 

"Why are you so relaxed right now? You know with the reading and the acting like its nothing when Stefan screams? Oh god I sound like Elena." Damon said.

I chuckled and said "Yes you do sound like Elena and the only reason I am calm is because I know that he will be fine when he gets his humanity back." 

He sighed and said "I'm going to nap for a bit wake me up if anything important happens okay?"

I nodded and went back to reading my magazine. About fifteen minutes later I heard Stefan scream loudly. I winced and kept my concentration on my magazine. My phone started vibrating and I took it out of my pocket and saw it was Elena.

I sighed and picked the phone up. "Hey Elena." I said still looking at my magazine.

"I can't believe the spell you put on Stefan! Bonnie told me what it does we have to stop it!" She yelled obviously angry.

"Alright look Elena, we can't stop the spell because we don't have a spell that contradicts this one and its the only way to get his humanity back fast enough we don't have time to do it any other way. So suck it up and yell at me later for it." I said and then hung up. 

I put my phone back in my pocket and muttered "Drama queen." 

Its been about 5 hours now and Stefan's screams just keep getting louder. Damon left about an hour ago and is going to come back in the morning. I went out and got a bunch of magazines and even went to the hospital and got some blood bags for myself. Stefan screamed again and I jumped I had to go check on him. I went through the hall of the cellar and went to where we are keeping him. 

I saw him laying on the ground with Elena standing by him trying to move him. 

"Elena moving him only makes it hurt more you can't do anything so cut it out you are only making it worse." I said.

She jumped and turned around to look at me. "You had no right to do this to him! He's in pain because of you Evelyn, why can't we just break the spell!" She yelled.

"Because this is what it takes to get him better! Okay so don't yell at me because your upset that you can't do anything! I had every right to do this to him, you haven't seen how bad he can get and he would start letting the people that you love die! So get over it Elena, you really shouldn't be yelling at me!" I yelled at her. I had it with her she is just getting in the way.

"I have seen him at his worst Evelyn! You hve no idea what I've seen and I just don't like to see him in pain he wouldn't of gotten worse!" She yelled back.

"I have been alive for four hundred and five years Elena, I've seen people do things that you couldn't even dream of and half of those things Stefan did! He would have gotten worse as time went by and you have to learn to be able to see him in pain if this happens again!" I yelled.

"I don't believe you. I don't believe that he did those things!" She yelled while crying.

"Face reality Elena if you really want to know all that he did go in his room and go look in his closet the old one he has a bunch of journals there even when he was a monster he felt guilty and he wrote down exactly what he did. Go look at them before you see me again because I am so close to hitting you right now and Damon really wouldn't appricieate that." I said calmly. 

She stormed out but not before bumping my shoulder roughly well roughly to her it didn't affect me at all.

After she left I went back to where I sitting and grabbed another magazine. 

"Well that was dramatic." 

"I thought I told you- Katherine!!!!" I said when I looked up I went over to her and hugged her.

She chuckled and said "Good to see you too Ev." 

I laughed and said "Finally someone who can understand besides Damon on what I'm doing!"

"Yeah I know right! I don't get how Damon and Stefan are in love with her." She said as I let go and sat down.

"I know right? How did you know I was down here?" I asked confused.

"When I was on my way back into Mystic Falls i was crossing through the forest and I heard yelling and I recodnised one of the voices as yours so I came to investigate." She said while grabbing a magazine.

I nodded and said "So I think its going to take a while for Stefan to get his humanity back."

She nodded and said "Yeah I think it is too. I always liked him better when he was nice."

I chuckled and said "Don't we all."

I heard Stefan scream again and I winced Katherine didn't move at all. I looked over at her and said "How do you not even flinch when he screams like that?" 

"Because I've heard screams like these before, not from him but from other people." She said while flipping through her magazine.

I nodded and then I heard someone open a door. I heard light footsteps and I knew it was Damon. "Hi Damon." I said as I put my magazine on the floor.

"Hey, Evie I know Elena isn't here because she told me about the fight so why is Katherine here?" He asked not even looking at her.

"Katherine is here because she was coming to visit her very good friend Evelyn." Katherine said not even looking up.

I chuckled and then said "Damon did you check on him on your way to us?"

He nodded and said "He doesn't look or sound to good Eve."

I sighed and said "This is probably going to take a couple of days."

"I can help if you want." Katherine said.

I smiled and said "That would be great actually."

"Wait how can you trust her with something like this?" Damon asked with an eyebrow raised.

"I can trust her with something like this because she knows that this needs to be done so Stefan can help kill Klaus." I said while getting up to go get a blood bag from the mini fridge.

"Okay well if you trust her, I'll try and trust her too. So that I don't kill her." Damon said. I rolled my eyes I could here the smirk in his voice.

"Well don't I feel loved!" Katherine said sarcastically.

I laughed and said "Okay we need to make a schedule so we can watch him there needs to be two of us down here at all times so, it'll be Damon and I for the next four hours then you and Damon Katherine for another four hours and we'll just keep rotating. Got it?" 

They both nodded and I said "Good. Now Katherine go get settled in town Damon and I have the first shift." And with that she left for town.
