Jacks POV-
"Calm down." Cam said. I couldn't calm down. Emotions were filling up inside of me as if I were a balloon. Kelly was on her phone smiling. Nash was pacing back and fourth with a huge grin across his face. We all sat in the room were Bria was staying while she was in her coma. Every time someone passed the door I would get excited because I thought they were coming in here. I was shaking my leg to distract myself. After about half an hour of waiting, Bria's doctor came in. Everyone stood up immediately to hear the good news.
The doctor laughed and stepped out of the way. I started tearing up at the sight. Nash ran to the nurse and started crying as well. "Is this real?" Kelly asked smiling. The doctor laughed again. I stood staring at the nurse wanting to hug the life out of her. I never though but I would be this happy. "Oh Jack." Bria's doctor, who also happened to be my doctor called me over. I went by him and he explained a few things to me about what's going on. "The tube right there, then give it to me." He finished telling me what to do and I did as I was told. I handed him the tube and he smiled. "Ok I'll be back soon." He left the room and Nash was still by the nurse. "This can't be real." He said with the biggest smile on his face. I was beyond grateful to witness this work of magic. Finally some light was coming through all of the darkness.
Dr. Gurdo's POV- (Happens before the beginning of this chapter)
"Dr! Can you make a statement about the mysterious death of the 21 year old patient!" Reporters were everywhere, all looking for the inside scoop on Bria Grier's case. It sickens me how the reporters only care if a tragedy happens. They blow stories out of proportion and glorify cases like these. "The patients case is an ongoing investigation that will not be stopped until the answer is found." Was all I said. I walked back into the hospital and into ICU. I met with another doctor and discussed Ms. Grier's case. "It's very risky but we need to decide now." Another doctor announced. "I say yes, there is also a possibility of survival for the patient." I knew what I had said was false in this case but sometimes you need to give yourself false hope.
"Well let's get going." Dr. Jurado said. There were three surgeons including me. We all prepped for the surgery and I prayed beforehand. I needed this to work, not for me but for everyone who loved Bria. She's been to this hospital one too many times so I know her very well and I care about her. Now there is a rule that a surgeon cannot do surgery on a patient close to him because of the emotional connection. However, no one knows that I know Ms. Grier more than a patient. "You ready?" Jurado called and I got up slowly. I walked I to the surgery room and acted as if Bria was just another patient. "Alright let's start before it's too late." I said and with that everyone worked on Bria as if she were a science experiment. In this case she was. We didn't know the outcome of this procedure and time will only tell.
My hands were steady and I moved quickly. "Did you make the incision yet?" I asked aloud and no one answered. I looked up from what I was doing and saw the other two surgeons were still prepping Bria. "We don't have a lot of time, could you move it along please." I was rather annoyed. Bria had been poisoned through her IV bag and she was barely holding on. She was on life support and barely breathing on her own. Luckily other doctors got rid of the poison before it could affect her heart or brain, but other major organs were heavily impacted.
Legally, Bria died. She was dead for fifteen minutes before she was given CPR. She began gasping for air after given CPR so doctors rushed to put her on life support, but she isn't living on her own, just machines do her body's work for her.
Bria was rushed into surgery and her right kidney was since she had her right kidney taken out. Bria had had problems with her kidney before the poison but the poison left her right kidney completely un functional. Her lungs were also weak but there wasn't much we could do. We have her sting medication to help heal the damage and it was working, barely.
