Chapter Seven - Battle Scars

Athena's POV

"What was that for" Kayden asked when I pulled away from kissing him, "you kept talking Kayden, so I kissed you" I said and sat crisscrossed, "and when I said, I love you Kayden I meant it" I said to him, he grinned at me and it made me smile. I know I need to tell someone about what happened, and I'll someone when I know the time is right but right now the time isn't right.

"Would you consider going on a lunch date with me today" Kayden asked and I nodded, he grinned and kissed my forehead and left my room. My train of thought stopped and I started to panic, I was going on my first ever date in a couple hours.

"Whitney!" I screamed from my room, "what's going on!" Whitney said pushing my door open; she looked panicky around my room. "I've got a date with your brother soon, and I'm starting to panic" I whispered yelled and she laughed like a full blown laugh, I stomped my foot "don't laugh!" I growled at her, she stopped laughing and took a few breaths. Whitney got straight to work, she waxed my eyebrows and I cussed so many times I'm pretty sure Whitney was ready to wee herself.

Whitney kept saying she was jealous of clear my face was, Whitney said all I needed was powder. I really didn't have a clue with the makeup; this was all a new situation to me. I've never been on a date, little lone talk to a boy or even kiss one I mean the kiss I gave Kayden was just a peck on the lips. "And you're all done" Whitney said after she braided my hair, she went over what she had done to make me look presentable for my lunch date with Kayden. Whitney had fish tailed my hair to the side of my head, Whitney only used powder, eyebrow fillers and a gel liner and mascara, she handed me a peach coloured dress and a pair of copper coloured pumps and some bracelets to pull the look together.

"I'm nervous" I tell Whitney, "you'll be fine" she reassures me, there's a knock on the door and I look straight at Whitney, she opened the door to reveal Kayden standing there with his hands in his back pockets.

Kayden looks nice, he jean shorts with a white shirt and some converse shoes on. "Ready to go?" Kayden asked and I nodded

"have fun kids! Nothing dirty you hear me Kayden!" I laughed and flipped Whitney off, she laughed and blew me a kiss. I buckled my seat beat "where are we off to?" I ask Kayden, he looks at me a smiles "you look really nice, and where going to a little restaurant, It's the best restaurant in town" Kayden said. I was shitting myself, I'm so nervous. I'm sitting across from Kayden, were both trying to pick what we want to order.

"Hello, I'm Lennon and I'll be your waiter today" the blue haired girl said, not many people could pull blue hair off be this chick for sure could pull the blue hair off.

"Can I get a chicken burger with no tomato please" I said and Lennon wrote it down, Kayden ordered a steak and garlic prawns. We also ordered drinks, I got a raspberry lemonade and Kayden got a coke.

"First date?" Kayden asked and I sighed "yeah, it is"

"Is it yours?" Of course it isn't his first date, I mean he's gorgeous. Who wouldn't jump to the chance to go on a date with him, I did have to admit that my thoughts of him being with another girl made me kind of angry and sad but I didn't let my emotions get the best of me.

We soon dropped the subject, and we ate in peace with a little chatter hear and there. I ate half of my burger and I was full, I know it hurts Kayden that I don't eat enough but when you had an up bring like mine you don't get to eat much. We got my meal wrapped up for me, Kayden paid for our meals and I thanked him.

"I have one more place to show you" he said and took my hand and pulled me to the car, we drove up to this look out. It was beautiful up here, you could see the whole town from up here. I bet it's beautiful up here when it's night time, the stars and the sparkling lights of the city and the house lights.

"Today was perfect Kayden, but I have something's to tell you" I said and swallowed hard, it's been a month since I've been here and I think it's time to tell someone about what happened to me as a child, and telling Kayden I know he'll be able to handle what I'm about to tell him and because I love him.

"When I was ten years old, I watched my mother die she was killed by two men that could shift into wolves like us" i took a few breaths "when I was eleven my dad started drinking and partying and he started hitting me, ever chance he got he'd hit me" closing my eyes, I shut my emotions off so they won't cause any harmful elements.

"One night, I was sleep and I heard things being knocked over downstairs so I went downstairs and my father was y'know hooking up with this chick, I ran back up stairs and he chased me and...and raped me" I single tear rolled down my cheek "the rape and the abuse continued until I came here, I also I done this to myself" I told Kayden and showed him my arms and my thighs. I showed him my fresh cuts, and I showed him my scars. The scars I have, they show me the battle I faced throughout my life. My scars were apart of me, there isn't anything I can't do to change myself from picking up that razor the first time. I know people look at me now, and think I'm an attention seeker but I'm not. I faced a battle in my life, and I'm still facing that battle.

I looked up at Kayden, he had tears in his eyes. Kayden wrapped his arm around my waist an pulled me onto his lap, "I'll protect you with my life, nobody can hurt you anymore Athena. I love you so much" he said and brought my arms to his lips, he kissed my scars and I started crying because Kayden didn't care about my scars, he cared about me he cared about the real me.
