Chapter Eighteen - The Awakening

Athena's POV

"Where am I?" I whispered to myself, looking around to my surroundings, I knew where I was and it scared me to be back here where my life turned upside down.

I was back in my old bedroom, the scratched up grey painted walls, the ripped white curtains It made my stomach hurt to be back here.

"You're in limbo my darling" my head snapped towards a familiar voice. My eyes rimmed with tears once I saw whom it was, standing up from the bed I walked towards my mother.

"It's really you, mum you'd never believe the things that've happened" my bottom lip quivered, and a few tears escaped my eyes.

Reaching out to touch her, my finger tips brushed against her hands.

"It's not the past you need to remember, it's the future you are going back to.

Limbo is for spirts that are stuck, myself I am not stuck, this is my punishment.

I'm sending you back, with some of your memory, you won't remember the past nor the part where you were running away from kayden.

Athena, I want you to go back to your life, and live your life, you haven't lived but maybe you need to focus on you instead of the people around you.

I love you my darling" she hugged me, and pushed me back with such force, that everything went blank.

Everything felt stiff, I couldn't move my body as of yet, trying to open my eyes, I just couldn't open them. Moving my toes, I gained control of something over my body.

'Try now' Kai my wolf told me, I opened my eyes and closed them again, the lighting in the room were way to bright for me just yet.

I waited a minute or two before I tried to open my eyes again, once I opened them, I glanced around the room and spotted Kayden sleeping by the bed.

Frowning, I looked down at myself, shocked and scared I started to panic making the machines malfunction.

I watched as kayden jointed awake, just as kayden did, Lenny came running into the room.

"Athena, it's okay! Just breath, in 1, 2, 3" Lenny told me, and pulled out the tube that was in my mouth. It made me cough once it was out, I throat felt raw.

I relaxed once I saw my brother, he was holding one of the twins, I'm pretty sure it was Adam.

"You've been out for a month now, Kai tried everything to heal you, you scared us Athena" my heart felt heavy with regret, I scared my family and I could've lost my life, but at least I got to see my mum one last time.

"I'm sorry I scared you all, but I don't remember what happened" confusion took over myself, how come I didn't remember what happened to me. Then it hit me, I was pregnant.

"What about the baby? Is he/her okay?" Looking at kayden, his face fell and I knew what this meant, I lost the baby in the accident.

My heart clenched in my chest, I felt like someone was squeezing the life out me. Tears welled in my eyes, even if i wasn't sure on having a baby at my age, I knew that this baby was a part of myself but also kayden.

I reached out towards kayden, he grabbed my arm and sat next to me and stroked my hair as I cried, I heard him sniff a little so I'm pretty sure he was sobbing.

Few days passed by, and Lenny let me go back to my old room in the pack house, listening to people outside of my door, I could hear Whitney outside debating with herself to come in.

"Whitney, I know you're there, just come in" I said and sat up and folded my legs, I watched as the door opened and Whitney walked in with the twins in toe.

"You haven't come to see me" I whispered just enough for her to hear me.

"I'm angry with you, you ran away thinking we didn't love you Athena, you're my best friend and sister in-law" Whitney snapped at me, it shocked me to have Whitney snap at me, but the part where I ran away. That part confused me, why would I run away?

"Why'd I run away?" I asked her, Whitney looked at me with a bewildered look on her face. After. While, she knew I was being serious.

"You're being for real? You told Jeremy, kayden and myself that you were pregnant, and kayden physically couldn't move, but by the time that you ran away crying saying we didn't love you, kayden regained movement of his body. Days after the accident, Lenny ran tests and found out that kaydens wolf went into shocking making him paralysed" Whitney's said worryingly, my stomach churned and I felt like I was going to throw up. My mind went to kayden, he must hate me.

Kayden" my voice was rough, my throat was sore and it felt like sandpaper when I swallowed. He stood at the door watching Whitney and I, my chest felt heavy and my eyes started to water. Whitney hugged me and left the room, leaving kayden and I alone.

"I'm so sorry" my voice cracked and I started to cry, kayden pushed himself off the wall and sat beside me on the bed and let me lay my head in his lap, even though it hurt to move, being by kayden distracted me from the pain. He stroked my hair and told me soothing things, and soon enough it helped me to stop crying and wiped my eyes.

"We're only young babe, and I'm sorry that I didn't say anything. I chased after you, but you were already gone. We'll have a baby when it's time, I'm just glad that you are okay" he said with a pause "I love you" he whispered kissing the top of my head, I held my breath trying not to think of the pain as I sat up.

Wrapping my left arm around my torso, I placed my right hand on the side of kayden's face and leaned forward and pecked his lips. Resting my forehead on his, I closed my eyes "I love you more" I told him and kissed him again.
