Everything was ruined. I ran up the mall stairs crying, trying to be quiet. How can I work after seeing Aiden talking another girl after I have only been gone for a minute.
"I guess I just have to manage in order to work." I mumbled under my breath looking out the window. It was now raining. It was raining very, very hard now. I started to worry about how I was suppose to get home. I decided to leave the window and go to work already.
I looked at the grand clock in the mall it was 10:47. I hurried over to the elevator.I pressed "2" and then waited for the doors to close. I wasn't alone in the elevator, there was a family. A man and a woman with a beautiful daughter and baby boy. I glanced over once to see the man tickle the daughter. If only I could be apart of their family.
"I wish that could be me" I thought to myself. Then, the elevator dinged and the doors opened, releasing the happy family and I. I watched the family walk away, the daughter skipping and the man and woman holding hands. I began to walk to work. As I walked I tapped my fringe bag. All of a sudden I felt a tug on my shirt. I turned around and saw the little girl look up at me. I bent down and said,
"Hello, are you lost?" I asked with a smile on my face.
"No, you left this on the elevator. I wanted to give it to you." The little girl opened her fist and it revealed my necklace, from my mother.
"Thank you so much!" I was so happy, I wouldn't even of known I lost it! I took the necklace from the girl and put it in my purse.
"I like you!" said the little girl twirling her brown curl, swaying back and forth.
"Well, I like you too!" I said with a confident smile on my face. "I have to go to work now, bu-bye!"
"Where do you work?" The girl followed me as I walked.
"Hollister." I said while approaching the store.
"Okie, dokie!" As I opened the door to get into work, I looked to my left. I saw the little girl skip away. Her mother knelt down on the floor with her arms wide open. I sighed and went to work.
2 HOURS LATER
Right now it is 1:00 p.m. I got off of work early so I decided to go around town. I started to think of that cute little girl I saw at the mall. They were such a cute....Family. I decided to go to the library; I've always wanted to read a mystery series. I looked in my fringe bag, I only had $10. So, disregarding the storm, I walked to the bus stop and waited for the bus. While I waited for the bus I was wondering what Aiden was doing. After all, he might be looking for me. Oh, well! I didn't care he betrayed me. Soon, the bus came. I handed the driver $2 to go to the library. He smiled and told me to take my seat. I sat near the back by a little girl, it was weird though she wasn't with anybody.
"Hi girl!" said the little girl next to me. OMG! It was that kid from the mall.
"Where's your family?" I asked with curiosity.
"Well, that wasn't my real family. Nope! They were a Foster family, I was told to spend the day with them." I felt so bad for the girl.
"Where is your centre, I'll take you there."
"In New Dale." What on Earth? How did this girl really get here? New Dale isn't for another 50 miles. I noticed she was carrying a small "Bitty Baby" bag with a stuffed bunny in the side pocket.
"How are you getting back?"
"I don't know."
"Well, where are you going?" I asked.
"I don't have anywhere to go. I ran away." Omg! This girl really was a handful.
"What's your name? Im Jessica, you?"
"Alyssa, but most people call me Lyssy."(pronounced Lis-e). I knew what I was going to do.
"Do you want to stay with me?" I mean this couldn't be that bad! She could sleep in my room, well until we get her own place to sleep. She would be like the little sister I never had.
"Yeah, where are we going?" The little girl said smiling.
"The Library." I said. Then the bus started to drive. The driver said the first stop was the library so I sat and waited. Soon, it was time to get off of the bus. I took the little girls hand and we walked out of the bus. I thanked the driver and we walked to the Library quickly, avoiding the storm. We got in there quickly. It was raining, so we were all wet. I was holding Lyssey's hand as we walked to the front counter.
"Hello there! How can I help you?" Said the young blonde girl named Jennifer.
"Hello, my names Jessica Hilton" I said looking at Lyssey.
"Oh, alright! What are we looking for?" said Jennifer.
"A mystery series."
"How about spying books, those are just as thrilling!"
"Okay." Wow, this girl knew how to get people the right book for them!
"How about this one" She handed me a book entitled "Looking for the Treasure." I went to the check out. It was $6. I gave her the money and took the old, large book. I looked outside, it was still raining. I didn't want to walk in the rain so I decided to sit in a chair and read part of the book. Lyssey sat across from me reading some kid book.
"Looking for the Treasure written by... What? No! How?
"Emily Hilton" MY MOM?!?
