It feels good to be back in my home state, where I was raised for 16 years of my life. I forgot how much I missed it. Now if my dad could actually be on time for once, that would be a miracle.

I sat waiting for about 20 minutes before my dad finally showed up to pick me up. Before we get in the truck, he helps me with my bags and gives me a hug.

"I missed you" he whispered in my ear. He sounds like he's about to cry. I've only seen my dad cry once. He lets me go and we both get in the truck.

"So how's LA?" he asked, trying to start a conversation.

"Busy." I told him, tying to tell him the least amount possible, "A lot different than here."

The rest of the car ride is silent, besides the radio. He actually let me pick the station, which he doesn't  usually let me do.

We pull into the driveway. There's scaffolding and ladders all around the house. I guess he finally got around to fixing the place up.

I grab my bags out of the back of the truck and walk in the back door and down to my bedroom. I used to call it my cave. It hasn't been changed at all from since I moved to LA with my mom.

I set my stuff in my room. Mitchell emerges from his room, "Woah! You scared me! I didn't know you were coming."

He hasn't changed a bit. I always was good at scaring him and he always was good at being clueless.

I roll my eyes and run upstairs to look for something for food. I haven't eaten anything today.  I open the cupboard and there's chips, pop tarts and hamburger buns in there. I go to check how bad the fridge. There's hamburger,  ketchup,  and milk.

"Seriously! There's no food here." I yell into the living room where my dad is already in his recliner.

"Geez! Why do you have to be so picky!" he jokes as he hands me $100 to go get food.

I get in his truck, which I hate driving, but I need food. It takes me about 5 minutes to get to the store. It's a small town, so it doesn't take long to find a parking spot. I am not very good at driving his truck,  so I kinda end up taking two parking spaces.

I try to think of necessities that we will all eat, we're all kinda picky. My mom was always the one who would eat a lot of the food we got, because we didn't like it.

I go to the register and pay. It all ends up adding to $93. When I look up, I see one of my old friends from youth group.

"Omg! Hey! How you been? I've seen you a few times when I have to put magazines out. What's up with that?" As long as I've known her, she's always had a lot of energy. She continues ringing the groceries.

"I've been good. How've you been?" I try to remember everything she asked me. "Oh, yeah, and that's over now."

"So how long you gonna be here? You should come to youth group tonight."

That might be a good idea. Get my mind off of Niall. "I'd love to, same time same place?"

She nods as she finishes up with the groceries.  "See ya tonight then." I smile and push the cart full of groceries out to the truck.

By the time I get home, my dad is sleeping and Mitchell is in his room playing video games again. I put the groceries away and grab some clothes. I really don't know which bathrooms are working with the remodeling going on. I run upstairs and ask my dad. He groans and points to the one on the main floor.

I walk in and almost puke. I don't know when the last time is that it's been cleaned. I turn the water on and try to clean the shower out a little. After it's clean, I strip my clothes and get under the nice hot water.
