Chapter 34: New Furniture and New Neighbors

I go back to the moving truck to get another box and bring it to Hailey and Mariah's new apartment. "Where do you want this one?" I ask as I look around at the boxes towering in there apartment. Hailey grabs the box and tips it to see what is written on the side.

"Put it in Hailey's room." She smiles and goes back to the truck to get more stuff from the truck. As I walk of Hailey's room, I see Niall and Louis walk in with two huge boxes.

"Come on Niall! Go faster!" Louis complains from behind Niall.

"Mate, this box is heavy! I think you got the lighter one!" Niall shouts at him as he sets his box on the floor of the kitchen. Louis does the same and they go back out to the truck. 

Hailey and Mariah's apartment is identical to mine, but it has two bedrooms, not one.

After all use girls and all the guys are done unpacking the moving truck, everyone who didn't have to leave comes up to my apartment for some food and just hangout time. We haven't gotten the chance to hang out much lately with all the things going on lately.

I head up to my apartment while everyone finishes up on the truck, as I get to the top of the stairs, I get almost to my neighbor Maverick's apartment. I knock on her door and she answers a couple seconds later.

"Hey Maverick, so a bunch of my friends are getting together at my place to hangout, and I was just wondering if you wanted to join us." I smile, hoping she will come.

"I'd love to."

"Alright, well I have to go make some food, so you can come over whenever you want." I tell her.

"Do you need help with the food?" She asks before I start to walk away.

"Yeah, that would be great, I have about thirteen people coming up, including us. And they eat a lot!" I laugh and she follows me back to my apartment.

When we get to my apartment, Maverick and I start with the dinner and there's a knock on the front door. I open the door to expect everyone from downstairs, but instead, there's a man in a delivery uniform and a clipboard in his hand.

"Allie Miller?" He asks, looking down at his clipboard.

"Um, yes, what is this?" I ask him as he hands me the clipboard and tells me to sign it.

"Your furniture." He says, he really isn't very friendly.

"Oh, um do you need help getting it up here?"

"That would be nice." He says as he walks away. 

"Watch the food, I'll be right back." I tell Maverick, grab my keys, and head downstairs.

"Boys!" I shout and Niall, Liam, Louis, Harry, Zayn, and Connor turn around. "My furniture just got here and the delivery man needs help getting it upstairs." They all nod and walk out to the parking lot.

"Alright, now I need to go finish dinner. See you guys in a bit." I tell the girls then rush back upstairs. When I get back to my apartment, I unlock the door and put a shoe in front of it so that the guys can get in with the furniture.

"Alright? How's it going?" I ask Maverick.

"Good, noodles are done. I dumped the water out." She says then points to the colander in the sink. I give her a thumbs up, then check on the sauce. 

"'Bout five more minutes on that." I say and Liam comes in with a box, then Zayn on the other end of that box.

"Okay, where do you want this?" Liam asks.

"Wherever." I tell them and they set it down in the entryway where they're standing. They smile and go to the living room and sit on the floor since there is no couch.

"A little help here!" I hear Louis yell from the hallway. We all rush out to see Louis and Connor carrying half of the L shaped couch. Maverick, Liam, and Zayn rush over to help them while I finish the spaghetti sauce. As I turn the stove off, the couch makes its way through my door. They end up having to pull it back out into the hallway, and have Liam and Zayn move the box so the they can get through to the living room.

As they get it setup, I finish dinner by taking the bread sticks out of the oven and putting them on a plate.  I put it all in a row on the counter like a buffet then grab the plates, silverware, and glasses. I put them at the front of the line and tell the guys to go get the girls from downstairs.

They look at me with a look of no-way-in-hell-am-I-walking-all-the-way-back-down-those-stairs.

"If you don't, no food for you." I say and Connor and Louis jump up and run, probably doing somersaults down the stairs, but Zayn and Liam slouch all th way downstairs. It's not like they're the ones that had to carry the couch up stairs by themselves.

Just as Maverick and I are the only ones in the apartment, Harry and Niall walk in with another box.

As Niall sets his box down, I walk over to him and give him a kiss. "Is that all?" I ask.

"There's like one more and the other half of the couch." Niall tells me and walks back out to get the rest.

When Louis and Connor come speeding into my apartment, almost hitting a wall, I instruct them to go down and help Niall and Harry. All of a sudden they lose all their energy as they go out to help. Maverick tells me she is going to go help them with the couch.

I go into my bedroom and lay on my bed. I open my laptop until I hear the boys and Maverick come in. I leave my laptop open on the bed and go out to see Liam, Niall, Zayn, Louis, and Maverick carrying the couch towards the living room. Harry and Connor come in behind them with a box and set it down in the living room after everyone else got the couch put together.

"Dinner's ready in the kitchen." I say and everyone makes a line where I put the plates. Everyone dishes up and then we go out to the living room and turn a movie on.

After the movie's over, it's about eight o'clock. I go out to the kitchen to do the dishes and then I head off to bed, with all my friends still in my living room. Tomorrow's my first day of college. I'm really nervous, but it's gonna be super cool.
