Chapter 35: First Day

I slap my phone as it alerts me that is it time to get up and get ready. I turn the alarm off and sit up, rubbing my eyes. Big day for me today, so even though I want to go back to bed, I place my feet on the carpet and put my head in my palms. I rub my hands down my face and walk over to the bedroom door. I look in the living room to see Niall on the couch.

"Niall!" I shout at him. I see him jump, but he doesn't get up. "Niall! Get you butt up! Or I'm gonna bring some water in here for you." As soon as I mention the water, Niall shoots up. "That's what I thought." I laugh and go into the kitchen.

"Want some cereal?" I ask him as I open the cupboard and pulled out two bowls.

"Sure." He says as he comes into the kitchen, stretching his arms above his head. 

"What kind? I've got Lucky Charms, Cocoa Puffs, Chocolate Chex, Frosted Flakes."

"Those kids are after me lucky charms!" He laughs as he grabs the Lucky Charms box out of the cabinet. He pours them in his bowl as I pour some Chocolate Chex in my bowl. Niall fills his mouth with lucky charms and then shouts, "They're magically delicious!" His cereal flies all across the counters and the floor.

"Niall!" I scold him as I rip a few paper towels off the roll. I hand them to him and he wipes his mess up.

"Alright, I have to go get dressed." I peck his cheek and go into my room. I put on a white button up tank top with blue buttons on it. I then put on a pair of jean shorts.

After about half an hour of getting ready, I finally am out my door. I'm a little nervous leaving Niall in my apartment, but I really have to go or I'm gonna be late for my first class. I feel like I'm leaving an untrained baby puppy in my apartment alone.

As I lock my door behind me and start walking down the hall, Maverick walks out of her apartment and locks her door.

"Headed to school?" She asks as she turns around, spinning her key ring around her finger.

"Yeah." I nod and smile, starting down the stairs.

"You want a ride?" She asks as she runs up beside me.

"Um, sure." I open the building's front door and go to her car in the parking lot.

After about ten minutes, Maverick pulls into my school parking lot, which coincidentally, is the same school that Maverick is attending. We look at each other before we step out of the car and through the doors of the building.

I head to my first class, which is Music Fundamentals since I don't really know a whole lot about music. Yeah, I know, my boyfriend's famous for his music, but I never really learned it. He's always busy, and when he isn't touring, I like to spend time with him, not learning. That is what makes me a bit nervous, having all these people studying music. Chances are, they all know music, which probably means that they will know who One Direction is. And at least two of them will know that I am his girlfriend. I feel pretty confident that I will be fine though.

"Good morning class. Welcome to Music Fundamentals I. My name is Professor Steele." The man at the front of the room said.

After the day is finally over, I take the bus back to my apartment because Maverick still has a few more classes today. Lucky for me, it was still early enough in the day that it's all adults on the bus. 

After the very dull bus ride, I finally arrive at my apartment. I unlock the door to see that all my furniture that wasn't put together, now is.

I smile at my clean apartment and throw my bag on the table. Next, I go to the cabinets to get some food. Apparently Niall went shopping, because my cabinets are overflowing. I look at the clock and see that it is 1:00. I grab a granola bar and a bottle of water and head down to Hailey and Mariah's apartment.

 I knock on the door and they open it a few seconds later.

"Hey!" I shout as Mariah opens the door.

"Hey! How was your  first day?" She asks as she ushers me into their living room. Hailey looks up at me and puts on a huge grin.

"It was pretty good." I tell them as I take a bite of my granola bar.

"Any cute boys?" Hailey teases.

"Um I wasn't really looking, I'm perfectly fine with Niall." 

"I'm talking about for us!" She says in a duh tone.

"Well I don't know, I thought you liked Liam though." 

After telling the girls all about my day, I look at the clock and see I have to leave for my first day of work. "Well I gotta go guys." I stand up and head towards the door.

"See ya later!" They both say in unison.

I go back outside to the blazing heat and walk to the smoothie shop.

"Hi! How can I help you?" A twenty-something girl asks at the counter.

"Um, I'm supposed to be starting my first day here." I say, looking around the fairly dead smoothie shop.

"Oh, yes! Allie, right?" She nearly shots as a smile grows on her face.

"Yup, that's me." I nod and she brings me to the back and tells me to put on a green and pink apron. I grab one off the hook, putting the strap around my neck, then tying it around my back. 

"Ok, first let's teach you how to make the smoothies." She smiles, bringing me back to the front, showing me the machine. "Oh, one second." She says then walks over to the new customers at the counter.

"Alright, that's all there is to it." She tells me as she finishes showing me all the duties I will have to do. "You think you're ready to start? I'll be here to help if you need it." She smiles as a group of teenage boys walk in, laughing at something one of them just said.

"Hi there, how can I help you?" I smile, feeling a burning in the bottom of my stomach. I am so nervous, this is my first ever job except for babysitting. I mean, it seems easy enough.

"Well, I'll have a banana smoothie and your number." One of them says to me. His friends start to laugh at his 'smooth' move.

"Sorry bout your luck pal, this girl is taken." I tell him and his friends stop laughing.

After they've all ordered, I ask Kasey, the girl who showed me around, to come help me with my first smoothie. I made the first one with her helping me, then she let me make the rest of them by myself. 

I looked down at the banana smoothie and contemplated spitting in it, but decided to be the bigger person. I mean, he didn't know I was taken. Plus, I wouldn't want to get fired on my first day.

Hey guys! I'm so sorry I didn't update! I've been super swamped with school, so I promise, I will update much more often in the summer. I probably wouldn't have updated if my friends hadn't requested it. So here it is guys, hope you enjoy it. Also, I'm sorry this chapter is so boring. I PROMISE I will make up for it next update. So in other news, I get to go to The Water park of America for  FREE on Saturday. For those of you who don't know, it is the biggest indoor water park in America. And also, it's not very cheap, so that's why it's such  big deal that it's free. Well, hope you enjoyed this update. More will happen next chapter, I pinkie promise.
